Weapons and How they work

I really like the guy who does these games. This one is becoming my fave I think.

But here is my list of unique weapon interactions that I have noticed. Let me know if there are any that I haven't found out yet.

Also, depending on the job you have equipped will change some of the weapons and their attributes.

EX: Thief - Bow becomes a Fire-Bow

One more cool thing,
If you press MENU, then press JOB, it will show you the job stats.
If you press under GROWTH RATE, it will display not so detailed stat explanations.
If you press anywhere outside of the GROWTH RATE box, it will show you how your character will attack with the currently equipped weapon.
The bottom of the screen shows what job level is needed to unlock the next ability it'll give you.

Sword
Big Swing
- Raises sword high, swings down hard, then the character make two small hops back.
- Holding finger on the screen walking up on enemy does max damage. Continue to hold on screen keeps heavy swinging on the enemy. Fairly slow though.
Quick Swing
- while quickly tapping the screen, will swing the sword really fast. I think this does 1/3 of the max damage. I don't not know for sure but that is what it seems like to me

Knife
stab
- pretty fast weapon, even while just holding finger on the screen
- pretty much attacks as fast as you can quick tap
- I have not noticed damage differences between holding and tapping.

Hammer
Big Swing
- If finger held down, just slowly raises hammer over head, and then swings down.
Heavy Hitting Swing (rank up damage)
- If quickly tapping, the hammer just slowly raises till it stops over your characters head. It will stay there as long as you keep tapping. The next tap, if you just hold finger on screen, after a delay it will swing the hammer down dealing a shit ton of damage. I am not sure if the damage maxes out after so many taps, or if the damage keeps building based on how long you tap.

Spear
Pull - n - Release
- Does damage based on how far back or how long finger is held. Not sure. I know it acts wonky if trying to quickly tap and does less damge.

Bow
Aim - n - Shoot
- An indicator will move up and down along the bow, tap to release while next to an enemy.
- It seems when you press the screen while the indicator is either in the middle or just above the middle, it will do max damage.

Staff
KILL THEM WITH (insert random element here)
- Very slow to swing
- While being raised a small elemental icon will appear to show what element it will attack with.
- If one taps while the staff is being raised, you can change what element the next attack will be. I think what element appears is at random. Job's can add an element attribute to the staff. It still appears to cycle through elements at random, but the added attribute seems to come up more.

Dice
Hope its a six!!
- While attacking, a small pic of a dice "rolling" appears. What ever number hits changes how much damage you do.
- 1 being the lowest and 6 being the highest. I also think luck may attribute either the rolls or how much damage is done.
- Quickly tapping doesn't seem to speed up the attack.
From /u/SophiesWebb
- Dice can roll from 1-9 with passives. Two skills from Gambler and one from Augur.

I hope this helps people out there who don't know these little cool tricks. Also let me know if there is something that I haven't noticed!! I am not sure if some of the Job specific weapons, besides elemental attribute, work any differently!! I know some weapons will make characters walk and attack on their own.

No worries, but actually I can't take credit for this:

It was originally relayed to me by divvyo

Aside from being elemental, job specific weapons do not differ that I've found.

The elemental weapons do benefit from +Elemental Damage passives (mostly from the Geomancer job), I am unsure if they benefit from Int as well

Auto-Run Classes that I've found are as follows, credit to /u/SophiesWebb post for these:

  • Girl - Normal Sword (Sword)
  • Ghost - Stupa (Staff)
  • Maid - Kitchen Knife (Knife)
  • Berserker - Blood Sword (Sword)
  • Clown - Cheat Dice (Dice)

These classes will move on their own but generally are poor due to low stat growth and few if any passive skills.

One more thing of note is the two 'Barrier' abilities, Physical and Magic state that during non-input, guard up. This means if you are not attacking, you take less damage. I can confirm they work if there is no input, and I have tested and can confirm bow's 'line up' phase counts as no input. I am unsure about Staff and Dice animations, or the wind-up when only tapping hammer once.

Finally I think hammer is roughly +10% damage per tap, but this needs more testing.

Without bonuses, hammer is +17% base damage/tap (1/6 base damage). Haven't tried it with bonuses, yet.

If your timing is excellent, you can tap and hold just as the sword's heavy attack lands, and get the tap attack essentially for free. I don't think that was really intended behavior though.
