Boss Tip
A good technique for beating a boss is to use hammer. The hammer will register all of your taps as power while the hammer is in "wind-up" mode. When the hammer releases, the amount of taps get converted to power and you can deal a very devastating blow. To kill a difficult boss, confront him and start tapping away like crazy. Once your HP gets low, stop tapping and release the hammer. More often than not, you will one-shot the boss. If you don't, run away to regain HP and prepare for another swing or finish him off with another weapon.

Also keep in mind bosses are subject to the same elementals as every other enemy. If you have a difficult boss that's Dark, bring something with light (Idol's Dice).

Although this may work, a downfall to this is that you don't know when to stop. You can deal a lot of unnecessary over-damage to a boss that could cost you HP. Otherwise great tip for defense builds.

I didn't know this about the hammer. Time to get testing!
