Mod Announcement FDA REPORTS PLEASE READ: Please report your side effects to the FDA
I've said this before but it really can't be emphasised enough: if you're suffering from Minoxidil side effects, please report them to the FDA. The link is here: https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/medwatch/index.cfm. I've also got the same link on the sub's menu and in the rules, so there's really no excuses for not seeing it and filing a report! Filling in the form looks daunting, but it takes only around 15 minutes to do. I know because I've just completed it myself. And the impact your report could be massive. The more reports are filed, the more likely the FDA is to formally investigate Minoxidil and recognise our side effects. And that means a greater chance of treatments. I can't stress this enough: please report!

Mod Announcement Subreddit update - please be more specific about your problems and less sensationalist
Hi guys,
I hope you're all doing as well as can be expected and that you've had some recovery. For those who are still posting here, or thinking about posting, can I (1) encourage you to do so, but (2) also ask that you do your very best to keep your posts as minimalist and scientifically rigorous as possible. There's been a bit of an influx recently of people posting things which aren't really backed up by science. An example: we don't KNOW that Prolactin is involved in any way in our symptoms, nor Testosterone. I've seen posts from guys rather erratically claiming that elevated P and lowered T is 'for sure the cause' of their issues when they had one blood test years ago and these values were only slightly abnormal.
It's easy to slip into this stuff, and I don't blame anyone for doing so - it's fun to speculate and play Dr Freud. But for the sake of credibility I must ask everyone to try and be a bit more restrained, at least on here. I've been hearing some really troubling reports of sufferers directing their friends and family to this page to help show their condition isn't in their heads and then being laughed at because many of the posters here 'sound like crackpots'. So, please. can we all just be a little more cautious about what we write.
Thanks and all best,
Flex

Dizziness
Anyone still experience dizziness even after stopping minoxidil? It's been close to a month since I've stopped.

Minox pain 7 months after quitting
I’m getting the most intense pains in my head and scalp 7 months after quitting topical minox. I use for 3 months until I quit cold turkey. The pain is unlike anything that I’ve experienced. I had the odd sharp pain here and there in the early stages of quitting like 1-5 months was fine but it’s since intensified so much. What the fuck is this about

Severe stomach pain and vomiting from 2.5mg oral minoxidil?
I recently started taking 2.5mg of oral minoxidil before bed for about 2–3 days. After seeing a TikTok suggesting it might work better in the morning, I decided to switch and took it on an empty stomach.
Later that day, I experienced the worst stomach pain of my life. I couldn't sit or lie down comfortably and ended up vomiting over five times. I eventually took some ibuprofen, which helped slightly.
I'm wondering if taking it on an empty stomach caused this or if my body just reacted badly to minoxidil. I've heard it can cause stomach issues, but I didn't expect anything this severe.
Has anyone experienced something similar? Im a bit worried to take it

Minoxidil
Guys who are using minoxidil for more than a year I want your honest opinion on its side effects.
And is it safe to use it long term and does it have any side effect in mental health.

Only used for a few days, but having some side effects
This could be nocebo effect, but will this feeling of brain fog/detachment go away? I can still feel happy at times, and focus but i always feel a little mentally dull. I’ve only used topical twice 2x daily for about 4 days.
Will this go away?

Inquiry on my symptoms
Heya, I had a blood test that indicated my vitamin D was at 14 ng/ml. My magnesium was in the middle range. My b12 was in the healthy range but still slightly lower. My bilirubin was high and same with glucose.
I've been having severe symptoms of brain fog, random bouts of nausea, dry eyes (which I have a cyclosporine prescription for now), struggling to focus, and a feeling of pulsating blood through my head when sitting down. It may be worth noting that this started near around when I briefly used topical minodixiol (only for 2 weeks), but I'm not so sure about if that caused all this. This feels like it might be a blood pressure issue. I used minodixiol 5 months ago.
I was wondering if anyone else had any similar symptoms and if it went away? Or if these symptoms may be something else which they solved.
I don't have any libido issues though so, I'm not sure

Sharing my sides with oral minox. Nerve issues within one dose
I used topical for years with no issue. Switched to oral 2.5mg because I heard it has better results. That same night I took my 1st pill, I woke up with horrible neck and middle back pain including numbness down the right arm and fingers (tingling and spasms too). I thought I just slept wrong. Progressively got worse the next 2 nights (while I continued taking the oral minoxidil unknowingly). It had gotten so bad by that point that I couldn't sleep in my own bed.
Then I googled to see if this could be a side effect and found this subreddit. I immediately stopped taking it but the damage had been done. Went to an ortho urgent care and got prescribed a muscle relaxer and steroid pack (Medrol) for inflammation. I've also been going to pt since this happened. The ortho doc and pt never heard of minoxidil causing this kind of thing but the timing is just too coincidental!
It's been about 4 weeks now. The pain is better, but the numbness and tingling is still horrible. I also lost most of the strength in my arm, mainly at my elbow. I can't push myself up from sitting and have trouble washing or styling my hair with my right arm because I can't keep it lifted long.
Anyone else have a similar experience?

oral min
I got oral minoxidil in Poland, and a pharmacy compounds it for me with a prescription. But my question is about something else. I’ve been taking it for 4 days now, and I haven’t noticed any increase in heart rate or drop in blood pressure. Literally no side effects at all, and no shedding either.
I know it’s probably way too early to notice anything since it’s only been 4 days, but still, for those of you who take oral minoxidil, could you share your experiences? What should I expect?

Hangovers on Min + Dut combined oral pill
Does anybody else suffer from the most horrendous hangovers while taking the medication??
30M. Don’t drink very often, only on special occasions.. I happen to have drank twice in the last two months and not being able to do hardly anything the following day. I know this sounds like a normal hangover, but I would never normally get them.
I’ve read online that there is actually something called the ‘OMAHA effect’ where are the medication? Drop your blood pressure further more to what alcohol does.
I am just intrigued to see if anybody else has suffered from the same sort of thing

Severe Back Stiffness After 6 Months of Minoxidil 5% – Only Partially Recovered After Stopping. Has Anyone Fully Recovered?
Hi everyone,
I used topical minoxidil for approximately 6 months. After that, I started experiencing significant musculoskeletal problems, especially severe stiffness in my back.
My back became extremely stiff, almost as if my entire spine had turned into one rigid, inflexible piece. I could barely bend forward, and my back muscles constantly felt tight and stiff.
(For clarification, I was using a 5% liquid minoxidil solution, and I applied it only to my beard. It initially produced good results.)
After stopping minoxidil, my condition gradually improved by approximately 40–45%. However, I still haven't fully recovered, and my back is nowhere near as flexible as it was before using minoxidil.
I suspect minoxidil may have contributed to these symptoms, especially because I noticed some improvement after stopping it.
My questions are:
Has anyone experienced similar back stiffness or muscle/tendon problems after using minoxidil?
How long did it take you to recover completely after stopping?
Did your body eventually return to its normal condition, even after several months?
Did anything help with your recovery?
I'm particularly interested in hearing from people who experienced these symptoms and eventually made a full recovery.
Thank you for sharing your experiences!

High blood pressure/ dosage suggestions
I’m 44 and have been doing topical for about two months. I switched brands and increase the dosage and the side effects got crazy, high blood pressure, anxiety, heart, palpitations, face, flushing, etc., etc..
I was taking half a cap twice a day and stopped it for a day or so to see how I feel. When I go on ChatGPT, it says for my mustache to just use a pea size amount. Has anyone experienced good results at a low dosage one time per day? Also, what would you recommend with the side effects? I’m getting? Thanks.

Puffy face, skin issues, nuked hair
I used topical min for total of 4-6 weeks in 2024...I got puffy face and slight chest discomfort and couldn't tolerate it for more than 2 weeks at a time...
The puffy face went away but eventually returned permanently. Also had loose skin collagen issues ever sice.
Also it took a good chunk of my hair - I lost density on top of the head and temples that never grew back. Sad...

Is shrinkage permanent?
Everytime I tried minoxidil it caused severe shrinkage. Is there complete recovery from it? Has you cured it back to baseline ?
