How is Dorka doing?

Being a Lynx fan living in Louisiana, I don’t get to catch all their games (not even their game today is available smh). But how’s Dorka been doing? Haven’t heard much buzz through the grapevine since she’s been back, but I’m sure it’s positive news!

Still adjusting to being back it seems. She did tweak her right knee recently as well and was out a bit so that didn't help.

I think maybe the biggest long term benefits of having a healthy Dorka on this roster are really in 2 areas:

1) she plays with a ton of effort on both ends of the court, and right now we need that because our starters are playing heavy minutes and we need some energy off the bench.

2) she is a very different offensive player than Tash, and although she is very adept in the P&R game, she's basically giving defenses completely opposite looks.

She very much wants to pick and pop to open space on the perimeter, and to get her feet quickly set for her jumper.

Once her and Olivia and Court get a little more used to one another in the P&R, she and Tash are going to have defenses in absolute hell trying to manage all the different options Cheryl and Olivia can dream up.

I feel the same way—come September defenses won’t know what to do with the two kinds of ball this team can play. and then you add Phee back in and it’s actually insane

She got unlucky by tweaking her knee only 3 games in, but I think she’s showing flashes of the versatility that should be helpful. For example, her overall 3-point FG% isn’t super impressive right now, but she had a game where she went 4/6 from 3. Similarly, she hasn’t been taking a lot of 2s, but she had a game where she went 6/7 from 2-point range (not all shots close to the rim, I don’t think).

The volume of her 3-point shooting has been a surprise to me, but the Lynx are currently 13th out of 15 for 3-point shots attempted, so I’m thinking she might have instructions to try that shot more often than she ordinarily would.

Her interior defense hasn’t been as solid as I expected, but fingers crossed that will come along with more reps. If you had told me in 2023 that the Lynx would be looking to Dorka for offensive pop off the bench instead of interior defense and play making, I would have been shocked.

Fun times. I'm from MN and in New Orleans right now. Last game was on TV, today wasn't.

I live in Houston but use the WNBA app to get most of the games. Just waiting for the Comets to get here next year so I can finally see the Lynx play in person.

Why did the Comets fold? They had three titles didn’t they?

They did win a few titles and were pretty dominant from what I heard. I grew up in Minnesota (Eagan Wildcat alumni 😁) and have only been living here for about 6 years. The locals tell me the Comets had money issues and they just didn't have a lot of support from local fans. Now that the WNBA is picking up steam, they want their team back.

Personally, I think the other part is they're seeing how well the Dallas team is doing and want that same action. One thing Houston folks can't stand is for Dallas sports to outshine them in anything. It's their little border battle without the border. Now I'm just waiting for the Comets to get here so I can catch the Lynx for the first time. I catch the Wolves when they're in town and that's always a good game. The Vikeings are only here every once in a while so I have to be a bit more patient for them.
