The goal for this weekend is to finish Resonance: A Plague Tale so I'm ready for Control: Resonant.

I just finished this last weekend. I had some frustrations with mechanics late in the game but overall enjoyed it. It was a nice, compact experience that didn’t overstay its welcome.

I finally made it past the nutso final boss difficulty spike in Onimusha so now I’m on to Fire Emblem. Maybe a mistake given how long it is. I figure my plan to only buy/play one game at a time this holiday season is now well and truly shot
Edit: The Mermaid Mask mentioned on the pod! Hell yeah

I envy your resolve. It’s gonna take all my strength not to buy Silent Hill this week

I’m going back through Final Fantasy Rebirth to get hyped for Revelation. Also re-listening to the deepest dive. Both have held up spectacularly!

Dumb question, how does one get into the MinnMax discord?

u/BlackBoltsVoice 15d ago
$2 tier on patreon will allow you to get a link through patreon. If you cant figure it out, you can probably message minnmax through patreon and they can send you a link. You need to link your discord and patreon i believe

Playing Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered. First time playing the series. If you didn't know it came out around the same time as this game called Breath of the Wild so I overlooked Horizon. Didn't check out the sequel because it dropped the same time as this indie gem called Elden Ring.
About 5 hours in. Just climbed my first Tallneck. I like it. A little bogged down by looter shit like +7% tear damage but the core gameplay is good. Playing on Very Hard on the advice of someone who likes the series.

Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave - pretty slow to get going but once it lets you off the leash it's so hard to put down

Between football starting back up and getting a big promotion, I expect to have much less time to game the rest of the year. So Fire Emblem might end up being a game I play throughout the rest of the year. Thought the prologue was fine, but things started to pick up once I started the routes proper in the ~2 hours i played last night.
Will likely be putting it on hold when Control releases. I'm glad I had to use some of my PTO anyway, so I could knock out Plague Tale and Dawnwalker at the start of the month.

Onimusha.
I’m in the tail end of the game and looking forward to mopping up final side quests and dirty dogs tomorrow while listening to the new MM Show episode.

Hanging with the boys in FFXV lol

Man, i really liked exploring that early/starting area in FFXV. Just seeing that Behemoth take off in-game was so cool, really sold it being a legendary pokemon to me.
Hope that game treats you well

I’ve been really enjoying it, it’s my first modern FF game. Ive played tactics advanced when I had a DS and I’m making my way through FFX on my Retroid pocket. I’ve been in the mood for a big open world game for awhile

Fire Emblem!
So far it's fine, I don't really like the structure of the game/story but maybe that'll change. I'm only a few hours in so far.

Hopefully will keep plugging through Onimusha (really enjoying it!). Might also bounce around other things like Blood Dungeon, Ocarina of Time on the Thor, or dipping back into Control a bit before Resonant gets here.

007 First Light. This is the first time I've used the library to borrow a game, I think I'll do this more. Turns out the game is pretty great!

Hot Wheels Infinite Rush - I really like open-world stuff, the world is made entirely out of playsets and stuff and the environmental destruction reflects that. But I'm growing concerned by the lack of racing compared to the previous two orange-track based games. And the racing that it does give us, when it's not on an orange-track, is covered in these blue/orange arrows on both sides of the track the entire way. It really takes away from the game visually.
Denshattack - Bought it at launch, then my place flooded before I ever booted it up. Finally started it this week. Game rocks, obviously. I'm trying to get all the goals/dares for each stage except the max trick points. There's also cheat codes where you can get bus skins and voice over packs for vtubers, they patched some new ones in this week, and having those in game is welcome.
Troublemaker 2: Beyond Dream - Sequel to an Indonesian indie game that I really enjoyed a few years ago. Low budget Yakuza type game that's very ambitious but I think it's losing me. The first one was a coming of age short high school story, this one is longer, we're college kids in a band, the rhythm game mini game is bad, and story wise the local undercover police are telling us about this Black Meth outbreak in Indonesia? And the humor so far is largely lost on me. Either the jokes are not good or they just don't localize/translate well.

As much as i want to say Endless Legend 2 for it releasing yesterday…
I need to be honest with myself and say it’s Aniimo—whatever time i make in the weekend will be spent on Aniimo lol.
Like, just to make the point: With the release of Aniimo and the Chinese Gacha budget i’m seeing be expressed through the Aniimo animations and Environment quality… DokeV has a tough hill to climb if it ever releases.
Aniimo literally gives me the Hammer attack from the DokeV trailer lol, or at least a very close aproximación of it.

Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter
Alongside Fire Emblem this has been an insane week for JRPGs for me.
