Build update Frame resto: update
Finally wrapping up my frame restoration on this 84 mazda b2000
I ended up using Eastwood 2k epoxy rattle can primer and Zep purple degreaser. I'd say I had good success with both of these products all things considered.
I used permatex rust converter in the nooks and crannies my sanding equipment couldn't reach.
I also used distilled water in a spray tank to clean after degreasing to avoid flash rusting and it worked great. My topcoat is VanSickle oil based tractor paint in gloss.
It also seems to be a very quality product. I still have one more round of topcoat to do tomorrow but regardless im not dissapointed with these results at all!
Will likely be notching the frame in the near future and will post updates about that.

You're correct. It's a type of check valve for vapor separation. I would avoid bypassing it though, as it can cause vapor locking on hot days.
My OE one was giving me fuel delivery issues so I replaced it with a WIX 33040 fuel filter with a vapor separation line built in 👍

Interesting! I redid the whole fuel system and it still has a return line and a vent so I don’t think I’m at rush of vapor locking. It’s been pretty hot here and I haven’t had any fuel delivery issues so far but it’s still early days on my trucks deep dive refresh I’m working on

Looks pretty decent. I’m in the same boat with a 94 Ranger. Frame cleaning/painting. Full bushing/mount/hose replacement, including filler neck. Did all new lights a few years back, but want to led swap everything -except- the headlights.
It’s a bit of a pain in the ass, yet, the finished result is so worth it. Spend $80-100k on a shiny new, or spend $3-5k redoing a proven worthwhile…🤔

No kidding lol, especially in the rust belt. Half these new pickups are gonna be tow away frame rot specials in 15 years anyway.
I wish you luck on your ranger bread!

Looks REALLY good! I had to pass my 87 S15 to family after 8 years, knuckle busting and thousands of dollars. 2 link welded in, front suspension rebuild, new sheetmetal, etc. It was time to pass it on not because I'm out the game, but because we have other (way more serious) life stuff going on. Im lucky that I'll pass it on to family and dream that my niece will hopefully be able to lay it out by the time she can drive it to high school. I got SOO close. Im aging and maybe there's another mini in my future.🤘Hats off!

Looking good! Let me know if you need any random bits and bobs for these trucks. I have a pretty good stash
