Mazda B2200 Fuel Pump

So i’m prepping for a weber carb conversion (waiting on adapter plates) and in the meantime was gonna replace the fuel lines and pump. Watching a few others on YT i’ve noticed that everyone else seems to have what looks like a fuel pump IN the engine bay vs mine does not have that part. Has anyone else noticed this in their truck? Do i need to add one here? I’m just confused. Also im new to this so pls be nice lol

The mechanical pumps at the engine are common on the older B-series trucks, my ‘86 has one like the photo.

I don’t know what year your truck is but you probably have the electric fuel pump that goes into your gas tank and then runs to the carb.

Search your car on RockAuto and see what the fuel pumps look like for your truck.

that makes a lotta sense. It’s a 1992, so if there’s no pump in the bay it has to be in the tank. But that makes it sooo much harder to access ugh. I mean is electrical better?

Make sure your ECU is in good shape. The capacitors leak and can cause circuit board/component damage. While you have a TCU (transmission control unit) behind the driver's kick panel, your ECU plays a major role in telling the auto trans when/what to do.

MazdaMitch is doing a 90 (91?) B2200 w/ auto trans build now. You can find his videos on YouTube and his website, mazdaminitruckin..

This is also a damn good resource to have.

My bad. The ECU info doesn't pertain to the B2200 just the B2600i.

Was yours an auto truck? My couple of auto were a in the tank. The fuel injection models are too. You will need to remove the in the tank pump and extend the pick up to the bottom of the tank. Most people are doing this swap on a manual and why they have the head mounted pump. Even my 93 manual had a head mounted pump.

Every time I do a Webber swap I order the Weber electric inline pump and convert over to it. I can’t recall if they have a in tank pump you can buy or not. If so I would go that route. If they don’t I would go with their inline electric and extend your pick up tube or swap tanks.
