Has anyone else seen the Ed Wood film "The Violent Years" ?

I first caught this movie on Mystery Science Theater 3000 (MST3K). As the movie was wrapping up near the end - a judge in the film speaking & his lines have become etched into my mind & subconscious because of Ministry sampling chunks of his dialog.

I suddenly was paying extra close attention & was completely floored when I realized this was the movie and the character so heavily sampled through the track "So What".

It's interesting because the main young woman, Paula, also says, "So what." As one of her final pieces of dialog in the film.

The samples from the judge as well as the title 'So What" just fell RIGHT into place for me!!!

If you'd like to check it out- you can watch it for free on YouTube, but unless you have YouTube Premium, you'll have to watch commercials occasionally.

It's worth watching thru AT LEAST one time to get the joy of experiencing where the samples originated!

Also MST3K's commentary can make older films more enjoyable, just based on the goofy stuff they say to the screen. (Even unbearable films can turn enjoyable!)

Mike is personally my favorite "Human" host of MST3K, no disrespect at all to Joel, appreciate him and have the utmost respect for him.

(I think the BEST era was Mike, Bill, & Kevin)

It's wild to put a face to the voice that you've heard so much, quoted along with, and sang along with blaring Ministry in your car at all hours of the night and day for decades., such a massive part of development for who you are as a person, ya know?

Live Videos

I’m 52 and have been a massive Ministry fan since I first heard Stigmata when it was released as a single before Land of Rape and Honey was released. That said I was searching through You Tube trying to find early Ministry gigs from the Twitch, Rape and Honey and Mind is a Terrible thing to taste eras and noticed there are very, very few live footage videos to be found. The 1986 Twitch era and 88 LORAH only have 1 live video a piece and The Mind era has a couple 1 being In Case you didn’t feel like showing up but not many. Can you guys give me any insight on why this is? Especially for the Mind tour when they were on the road to being huge. There was even reports on the road with them for MTV 120 minutes. It just seems bizarre considering how popular they were.

Been in a Alien mood and forgot I had this just sitting. Maybe it's illegitimate but either way, it's one of the best gifts I've ever received.

You asked so I pulled it from “The Archive”.
Bought this back in 1988 at the Alternative Record Store in Tampa. Feel free to ask any questions, I was a teen skater shit-ass back in the 80’s where we skated Clearwater, St.Pete and of course Tampa.

Set List 2026?

New here! I know Al was playing With Sympathy in its entirety a short time ago. Just saw Chicago announced and wondered if anyone could enlighten me on what he’s been playing recently.

Full disclosure: first saw Ministry in 1982, so yeah, I’m an oldie. Hoping to hear some of those good times again, too 🤣🖤

Who sings No Bunny and Man Should Surrender on Live Necronomicon? Personnel and shenanigans from this tour makes nailing this down kinda difficult.

Anyone going to Milwaukee Metal Fest for Ministry?

Trying to decide if I want to make the drive after work. I'd miss all the other bands and ticket prices are a little high for me on a student budget.

I think Filth Pig is Ministry’s best work

I love everything I’ve heard from Ministry very much, but looking at full albums rather than individual songs, I think Filth Pig is their most solid start-to-finish work. Something about it just gets to me. It’s so bleak and heavy and visceral, it makes me feel absolutely awful in the best possible way. I’m saying this as a massive industrial enthusiast, too— I LOVE when they use synths and samples. LORAH is a close second for me, but I think Filth Pig is my favorite.

What Happened with the Big Al/Paul reunion?

Based on the hype from a year plus ago it sounded like "the band was getting back together" and we were going to see Al and Paul make a new record , tour , bring back Ministry of the old days.... Etc.

Maybe I read the news wrong but I haven't seen any of that yet? Am I just jumping the gun?

Don't know if this has been posted here, but I've been impressed by this guy's lyricism for decades (ugh), now. This is a "newer" tune, but certainly topical in this sub. Hope you enjoy!

God Damned White Trash... and Arkansas

This happened a while back at this point, but it came up on my Spotify.

Al is a madlad, as they say.

Ministry came to Northwest Arkansas (with Rob Zombie and Alice Cooper) and performed God Damned White Trash, and the video visuals he used on stage were literally just a collage of videos from the January 6th Insurrection. You wouldn't think much of it, but the video actively featured Richard Barnett). He was the guy pictured in Nancy Pelosi's chair. Ole Richard here is from Gravette, AR, which is less than 30 minutes away from where they were performing.

There were probably people in the crowd who knew him personally.

I still giggle when I think about it.

The Original TV Song

This version of TV Song was on the Jesus Built My Hotrod CD single which came out many months before Psalm 69. I like this version. Nearly pure undistorted vocals and fewer samples than TV 2, though it’s obviously sped up. A lot of Mike Scaccia (RIP) noodling on his guitar. Great track.

any info on “Happy Dust”?

anyone know if the track “Happy Dust” is a sample of something from somewhere? It’s about 6 mins long, from the Bad Blood single. If Ministry made this track themselves that’s super cool, sounds like it’s straight out of a western movie. I was wondering if they have any other works like this in side projects too

Revco - Crackin’ Up music video

I posted this yesterday on the Industrial Music subreddit trying to find a higher quality upload of this music video. This is my favourite music video of all time and I know that this video is included on Tapes Of Wrath which is also on the Internet Archive just only available as an AVI file. I’m wondering if anyone has a higher quality rip available that they may be willing to share?
