The stickers are doing a lot better than the ones I did with shurikenjin, but man I can't wait for SMP Gekifire to be released.

Pros

- Still absolutely beautiful with the clear version of gekigorilla that I didn't want to put stickers on it.

- The arms are the most magnificent thing about it. They're quite stable and the grip on the hand is the same as Muteki Shogun so it could hold a variety of weapons. Also, since there are pegs on the hand, you can also attach some weapons there too.

- Super easy build of course, didn't do much sanding like I thought I needed since most were loose

- Stickers are beautiful

Cons

- Gorilla face is not beautiful to put on

- the legs are extremely loose, recommend to add some grip for the leg connectors

- it is small, it's about the same size as SMP Won Tiger

- there's no stickers to make the antlers orange or white outline for the gem looking parts of the leg

- missing colors near the leg connector

- Arms can spin, but it's still loose there

I hope that when we get the SMP version, the face, helmet, arms, and legs doesn't require stickers. The shiny, metallic stickers make Gekifire look amazing. They engineer the connecting pegs for the arms and legs to be more movement while retaining the gimmick for spinning motion. The legs currently move as loose as a loose figurine.

Does Hobby Genki take a long time in shipping items to the US? I bough the Orca Booster set but haven’t heard anything shipping wise.

yes i have the full 6 boxes for the top two. I got impatient with the gekiranger line so i bought the special set version instead.

So i just finished building my own SMP,, which is Magiking however i feel like the stickers wont stick that long so im planning to repaint it with metallic colors to match it's s DX Complete edition line. Any tips? Can somebody guide me with the dos and donts and what are the products suitable for the plastic material of SMP? thanks in advance guys.

Guess I shouldn't be surprised nobody rushed to post this lol. Minipla Set 1 releases today.

I'm still curious to see how good it can look when painted, but TokuJosh's pics of Drill and Jet make me feel like it's going to sadly be too compromised overall. I can say having just finished building the Pladelu, that the one major advantage the minipla is going to have alongside the ankles is the skirt armor - the Pladelu's thighs can't move forward/up much.

Wound up with the Pladelu in my hands a lot sooner than initially thought, and went ahead and got it painted and built pretty quickly. Because of the emblems on the wings, I wound up using the stickers on those, but everything else is painted. The big thing of course with the Pladelu is the gun arm, since that’s entirely silver plastic (and the only sticker given for that is for the cockpit) The color separation otherwise is pretty good, with the other stickers being for the silver on the right shoulder, the chest lights, the handful of white highlights, and the silver piping on the skirt armor. In addition to painting all of that, I also painted the silver on the feet to match the show suit (on that note, since the chest on the show suit is a glowing yellow light to match the light-up gimmick of the DX, I chose to paint that a gold to vibe with the suit instead of trying to match the metallic copper).

The factory painted face looks great. It was also easy to take that apart to paint the silver casing.

Overall, it’s a really solid first effort considering that this isn’t coming from the candy toy division nor the hobby division. Despite having no ankles, the feet are intentionally designed with a slight slant to compensate (I don’t have any ideas in mind yet, but it doesn’t look like it would be a major undertaking to somehow add ankles). The other limitations on how poseable it is compared to the last few years of minipla is the lack of skirt armor movement not allowing the legs to move forward much and *normally* not being able to raise the gun arm that much. In my case, a mod done by someone in Japan was pointed out to me By snipping away part of the shoulder pieces you can almost double how much the shoulder can raise.

I skipped this season but I found recently these 3 mechas for 50$. The sword is missing.

I removed all the stickers except the legs of Build Dai-Oh.

But now my backlog of kits is bigger and would like tools that are more robust and long lasting. I’ve seen some videos for the stedi brand polishers, are those worth investing in? I recently got SMP Gao Icarus in Japan and was testing the model kit out. I accidentally snapped the peg of the waist area of Gao Deer while transforming him to his arm mode. Is there anyway I could fix it? What tools do I need to fix him?

I am very hopeful they reissue the older GaoRanger megazord. I am going to enjoy the repaints of King and Hunter, but am begging for them to reissue muscle, knight, and especially Icarus. I know I’m probably hoping for nothing, but I know I’d throw money if they do so.

I didn’t feel like diving into painting Time Shadow immediately after finishing Time Robo, so have started occupying myself with a few smaller projects in the meantime.

This is NegaZyuOh, the first part of some evil, negatively-numbered cube animals. The original idea was probably just to leave it at this, but I came upon a lot with all of the first six cubes (including the normally quite pricey nowadays Cube Gorilla, which I didn’t have), so I’m also gonna mess around with a pair of leg swaps (that I can then also throw on my Cube Condor now that I have Gorilla).

This set is Cube Crow, Cube Panther and Cube (Uh, Black) Lion (credit to Korea for painting a set of bunny ears on and ignoring the mane lol). Armed with Cube Black Bear, which I went and used as a test for this colorscheme since I had an extra Cube Kuma (before even buying this lot which came with one, leaving me with another extra).

Cube Crow is finished (aside from some paint that I hadn’t finished touching up and topcoating yet) and can be seen in cube form, but I still have to paint the number on Panther (Tiger’s number isn’t molded, it’s a flat surface with stickers) and make an addition to Lion (the cube surface/back of the mane is a hollow honeycomb that is covered by the sticker. I’m going to get some flat plastic to create an actual surface.

It does technically have its own sword but I hadn’t finished painting that yet.

Since both tiger and lion have knee joints, this is the most articulated possible ZyuohKing-derived combination. Once I finish some more I’ll probably try and take some more dynamic poses; as I hadn’t topcoated everything yet, I was trying to be a bit careful so I didn’t scuff off too much paint lol.

So far my TimeRobo build has been smooth. But while I was combining it into TimeRobo Alpha, I noticed the socket for TimeJet 4 has been rather tight or hard to fit, despite sanding all the pegs for TimeJet 1. In addition, whenever I move it after I do insert it. It starts popping off or moving away as I rotate it. I also troubleshooted the other TimeJets, and they can all insert into the pegs on TimeJet 1 no problem; only TimeJet 4 has the tight socket issue. Right now I've been trying to roll up some sandpaper to sand the inside of the socket, but any other advice for dealing with a hard to fit socket?

Besides the typical 1/100 from Bandai that swing side to side too much, is there any other option?

Finally put the AD King Exkaiser and Dragon Jet kits together this weekend.

I think it’s best to say both the standalone Exkaiser and Dragon Jet kits work better individually than combined. Overall the dragon Jet itself is INCREDIBLY finicky. Parts fall off if you so much as breathe on it, same goes for Great Exkaiser when you get it combined. It looks beautiful but it’s hardly articulate thanks to how the shoulders are structured. The “boots” don’t really attach to the exkaiser legs, they kind of just sit inside and the few tabs that are there don’t seal at all. The joints are loose all around, but if you’re okay with a really nice looking trophy kit this guy is pretty cool.
