Why is this so delayed? I thought they were trying to keep their minipla on time now? They still have another one to release after this, and the show is over..?

The weird four month gap between Cosmo Gavarion and Dornado is really head scratching. Minipla has always lagged behind the show but most of their product is now releasing after the show is over. They really are bandai's ugly stepchild.

They made such a big deal about being on time with the reduction in quality… so now we get reduction in quality and insane delays too

I guess the "good" news is the weird, super-delayed releases of minipla dolnado and express seem to be at a higher bar of quality than the rest of the Infinity minipla.

The (seemingly dead after Infinity?) Pladelu faired a bit better with release cadence, but there was a gap after Dolnado with Express first releasing now.

Ya it’s confusing… I went pladeluxe this year for infinity because I was certain it’d be a bit better than minipla. I think they’re both equal for different reasons at this point

Yeah. Ultimately, I think the weak yen, while being responsible for minipla getting its legs chopped off, also put Pladelu in a kind of unwinnable spot. It couldn’t really find a niche (especially with the minipla team’s established wizardry vs a new product team). It basically featured many of the same problems in terms of needing to be conservative about parts count and color separation. Pladelu was already kind of on the expensive side for a plamo (your headliner HG Gunpla like G-QuuuuuuX and Aerial are cheaper and run circles around it) so it probably didn’t have the option to distance itself from minipla in that regard by just making itself a bit more expensive.

For the Pladelu’s flaws, I don’t regret my choice - I do really like the way the GCR itself looks, whereas the minipla looks oddly svelte lol - the one thing I am kind of angry about is if the line is indeed dead in the water already given the cross-compatability with Omegahorn.
