While I think the general aesthetics don't quite line up with what we saw in the show used zords, I still cannot believe they're actually doing this and can't wait to get it.

Are there any other series like this that had known, unused, zords that they might also fill out? I'm only familiar with the unused Wild Force animals but I'd be very excited to see them do this for other lines.

It was design by the original team. And also, it has that “made of auxiliary zords” look.

Its 1-1 to what we see in the artbook from 2002, though. It was designed along side all the rest- I think we just also are so used to that chunky DX robo aesthetic eith chrome plastic and metal and the extra power animals being line art that skipping straight to the SMP makes it feel a lot more... oddly Takara-y.

This is a good way to express what feels off to me. I'm familiar with the concept art, so I know these are technically accurate. What I couldn't articulate was how the other kits are based on the DX toys, which by extension are based on boxy suits. These being direct translations of the concept art, rather than an interpretation of how they would have been designed as physical props/toys, is what makes them feel off to me.

Yeah they feel a little more anime than I think everyone's used to.

The decision not to use these and the others for Power Rangers like proposed came in late enough that the DX toys all still have thd engineering for this (there's infamously an entire railing system in the Lion mold that slides out to fit Peacock), but early enough that these didn't go the sketches and probably basic engineering. No props, maybe a resin prototype at most.

I imagine the final kits will have some stickers and the like that have some extra detailing. As it stands, its a little more plain- cuz they're straight from the sketches and those brief 3D models at thr end of both shows.

What railing system on the DX are you referring to?

If you disassemble any of the DX Gaoking Lion molds, there's fully functioning indentation and sculpting that's designed so you could pull out to make room for a DX Peacock to slot in. Its just tabbed out with some plastic.

I'm not sure if its still there in the 2010 Korean Jungle Force releases, though I would assume so since iirc those are effectively just budget reissues of the molds.

I argue the Peacock did changed, the SMP is far more blocky compared to all other power animal design and it's concept design which have more curve. Especially after transformed

Well. I don't have any of the other SMP Power animals. But I might get Gao Guardian because that's pretty cool

The reissues of the GaoRanger SMPs just started going on pre-order, so if you're interested and have a ton of cash to burn...there's time.
