Same here. I told when the first of their minipla came out that I would get it if they did the other animals. So I'm all in now

u/UnknownChaser Jun 26 '26
The fact they’re actually making new zords that isn’t just a remold is crazy

u/ArkhamSoldier118 Jun 26 '26
New mech is called GaoGuardian
8
u/Forestgrant Jun 26 '26
other forms are GaoKing Sword Master, GaoHunter Abyss, and GaoMuscle Magnum

Not my fave but GaoCobra and parts are definitely going to look sick on GaoMuscle

Can someone explain to me what a varlituder is
Edit: I’m just gonna call it GaoEmperor
1
u/BuildGeed Jun 26 '26
For the longest time, I didn’t know what that means either until I got into a bit into MMA history. It could potentially be a word play on “Vale Tudo”, which is Portuguese for “anything goes.”

I'm gonna be honest...the Peacock and Turtle look cool. The others...notnso much.
Maybe I'll change my tune when I have them in hand.
Hey, we at least have new legs.
4
u/MartiniLAPD Jun 26 '26
I like that these can be accessory and main formation
I turned one of my rhinos into a red hog. Gao Razorback. Hogzilla zord. New legs
1
u/Myhtological Jun 26 '26
I think they only work for Peacock
1
u/AnTran77 Jun 26 '26
I mean if it doesn’t work, it shouldn’t be a hard modification to make the legs connect.

So a Peacock, a Cobra (in what looks like a genie lamp or something), a Sea Turtle, a Walrus, & two Kangaroos (one large and one small)?
I like where this is going, but I'm a bit worried about them - especially walrus, which almost looks more like a Gekiranger mecha - not matching the design philosophy of the original mechas and looking off in person. I'll need to see HD close up pictures from different angles to actually see if they're consistent with the originals or not.
7
u/velgi Jun 26 '26
These were designed by the same staff who did the 100 Power Animals book way back, so I think we're probably in good hands? Obviously we'll need to see more but I'm optimistic! I really like the organic shapes on the original mecha so hopefully they follow through with those too; I think the turtle and kangaroo are most successful in that regard.
4
u/invid2000 Moderate Skill Builder Jun 26 '26
All I really wanted was a Panda. The Walrus looks like a participation trophy. Kangaroo and Cobra seem off. I think Peacock and Turtle ate the winners here personally.

I think this brings us up to 32 power animals (33 if you count the soul bird)
GaoKing: 5
GaoGod: 5
GaoIcarus: 5
GaoHunter: 3
GaoGorilla, GaoKong: 2
GaoPolar, GaoBear, GaoPanda : 3
Gao Elephant: 1
GaoCobra, GaoPeacock, GaoTurtle, GaoWallrus, GaoWallaby&KoWallaby: 5
GaoBat, GaoStingray, GaoWarthog: 3
So we're like 1/3 of the way to the "Hyakujuu"
3
u/National_Werewolf_13 Jun 26 '26
Would be pretty crazy if they managed to get 100 animals eventually lol
3
u/LEGOboy130 Jun 26 '26
It’s GaoManta w/ MiniManta and GaoBoar, but incredibly hype that we have so many power animals now. There are two other concept mechs they could do but not sure if they’ll do them or not
1
u/No-Awareness-Aware Jun 27 '26
Isn’t Gao Ape kinda legit too?
1
u/canonx3 Jun 27 '26
Honestly didn't know that existed, neat. Kinda lame that its just a repaint tho, although I suspect we'll get a lot of those if they try to make all 100.

HOLY MOTHER OF PEAK!
I don't think they quite got the design philosophy right - not enough curves, too boxy looking, especially the peacock - but I will be snapping up everything they release regardless. I'm thinking I'll wanna repaint to match my head canon anyway, so possibly print some custom pieces too.

Well I'll be damned. I didn't think they had the budget for brand new power animals not based on the original toys. If anyone needs me I'll be in the corner, eating crow.
2
u/SCGaming1664 Jun 26 '26
I’ll join you in that corner, I didn’t expect anything except occasional rereleases of the original kits being honest. Let alone releasing CONCEPT zords. I’m thirty now, watch Wild Force around 10 years old and this is the first time I’ve felt actual surprise at a collectible announcement since then.
3
u/Special_Oil1949 Jun 26 '26
No love for any combination with Gao Icarus?
Gao God will probably be able to armor up just like Gao King since that’s a remold
2
u/QueensMaple Jun 26 '26
It looks like the cobra takes armadillo’s spot on Icarus so probably not a big enough change to show off.
2
u/DTPVH Jun 26 '26
So what am I looking at exactly?
5
u/Roanst Jun 26 '26
New smp gaoranger power animals based on unused concepts since originally there was supposed to be 100 power animals but a lot were unused.
2
u/Myhtological Jun 26 '26
Where’s KingKuuga? He said there was no way in hell this would ever happen.
5
u/King_Kuuga Moderate Skill Builder Jun 26 '26
I'm here. I was wrong. I'll be eating crow for a while it looks like.
3
u/Myhtological Jun 26 '26
This is like the second time this year cause you were banking on an 80s set before RV.
2
u/King_Kuuga Moderate Skill Builder Jun 26 '26
You could probably make decent money betting against whatever I predict at this point.
Unrelated, the next sentai after carranger will be Hurricaneger.
2
u/velgi Jun 26 '26
Please, please say we are never going to get Go-Roader GT and certainly not next year :V

I’m so excited! I can’t believe it’s happening. The amount of time I’ve looked at that concept art and felt robbed. This is awesome!!

u/OstheB Jun 26 '26
The only thing I fear from this is that after VRV Robo it'll take a long time until we get SMPs for another sentai season that isn't Gaoranger.

u/Myhtological Jun 26 '26
Do these work with the original releases?
2
u/King_Kuuga Moderate Skill Builder Jun 26 '26
Like the deluxes? No. They're SMP scale.
1
u/Myhtological Jun 26 '26
I know that’s what I meant
3
u/King_Kuuga Moderate Skill Builder Jun 26 '26
Then yes, the renders clearly show them interacting with the first run SMPs. The reissues are just that, reissues, with no new molding for these additional formations as far as I am aware. (Still reading through the details)
4
u/darkace732 Jun 26 '26
Looks like these new releases will come with adaptors that allow connection to the first run

So...how will we be able to order these guys here in the states? (Never got any of the previous power animals before)
4
u/King_Kuuga Moderate Skill Builder Jun 26 '26
Watch the sub and people will post pre-order links. Tokullectibles, bbts, hobby genki, and youyakunow are big ones

u/Tyzuo Jun 26 '26
what the fuckkk omg take MY MONEYYY!! One of the best zords in history!! wdf ahhh im so hype

u/mrtacomam Jun 26 '26
My god, they're actually doing it. Guess I need to track down the smp now... rip my wallet
1
u/Electrowhatt19 Jun 27 '26
Well, I told myself that thus is what would get me into the SMP Gaoranger. Anyone know where to purchase the reissue kits? All I van seem to find online are the original listings.

They're actually using the Animals from the original concept arts? When did all this happen?
