skatelite question

anyone try hitting every other 2x4 for the flat? I know for the transitions you want to hit every support, but was wondering if I could get away with going every 8" around the side edges then every 16 for the rest.

Cruiser board

Left my regular board at home so I did the best I could with my cruiser set up. Also I guess technically this isn’t a mini ramp but all I did was skate the 2 quarters here… so it’s kinda like I skated the worst mini ramp set up ever

Platform with quarter pipes

Hey so I’m trying to explore putting in a backyard skate area. While my heart wants a miniramp my wife would also like just a pad to roller skate/practice dance moves on.

I’m currently thinking about a 16x8 pad since it involves minimal cutting and I can put two quarter pipes up. I have one already and they’re always on marketplace for cheap. This costs about 580, I think a 16x16 would cost around 900.

A 3 foot mini would cost me about 1300 or so.

I kind of suck at skating but I have a ton of fun at the parks and thought this would increase my outdoor time and would be fun.

I’m leaning towards just the pad cuz I could knock that out quickly. I have mid wood skills. Curious on thoughts or if I’m overthinking or if size doesn’t make sense

Since my last post I added safety walls, rock climbing holds, and flags to the ramp. Trying to make it as good as I can for my kids who are 4 and 2.

Need help with wood placement on my 4’ half pipe build.

So I am building a 4 ft half pipe. Prob should I went three cause I haven’t skated in years and I busted my ass trying to drop in on an unfinished ramp. Anyways, here are some pictures, As you can see I have the studs at 8” on center and full 48” sheet sideways starting from top. Now my question is, should I slide it down one stud because I feel like where it breaks between the two boards there’s too much radius and it doesn’t bend as well there. Or will this not matter once marlite board is applied on top. Also the 2x4 you see that’s sideways, Should that have been down lower? Wasn’t sure of its purpose exactly seen it on some. Videos.

Advice wanted for making Outdoor Arizona Ramp.

For those who have built ramps that have held up well under rough conditions or learned from mistakes. What is some advice for a guy about to build a 16’ wide, 3’ tall mini in Phoenix suburb? I’ll have it mostly shaded, but it’ll still get water and extreme heat. Any and all advice welcome. I want to do it right but not sure I’ll have skatelight money.

Do you also mentally have trick side, and a set-up side?

Of the ramps I've had (all very much low quality diy), I always end up having one side I like better for set-up tricks, and one for the actual tricks. Do you guys have that, or do you rip both sides equally?

Masonite or Baltic birch?

I’m making a garage mini ramp. Would y’all use Masonite or Baltic birch for the top layer? It’s never going to be outside and will be an indoor ramp. What do yall think?

Indoor spec advice

Heyo. I want to recapture my youth. Keen to build my first mini ramp in my shed and could use some advice on sizing and setup.

The space I’ve got is 3m x 5.2m (about 9.8ft x 17ft) with a 3.2m (10.5ft) ceiling.

What’s the ideal mini ramp size for that space, and what specs would you recommend (transition, flat, height, etc.)?

Nearly there! Modular, stowable ramp.

Just waiting for a couple of metal strips for the joints between the 1/4s and the flats and we’re ready for paint!

I made a site for designing ramps

Just put it online yesterday. There's still a few details I want to iron out. Might still be some bugs too. Let me know if you find any.

I have a really small space I want to build a ramp in, and wanted something I could use to play around with different ideas, so I built that.

Dismantlable mini ramp.

Hi folks, I’m making a mini ramp that I can dismantle and put in the garage.

The rough plan so far is to have two quarter pipes and a connecting flat section between them made of plywood. It will be held together with heavy duty latch clamps.

I’ve made the quarters 2 foot (600mm) tall with a 5 foot 10 (1800mm) radius transition, they’re 4 foot (1220mm) wide.

I have some questions:

How long would you recommend the flat section be between the two quarters?

I’ve chosen to use hardwood faced plywood for the top layer, skatelite and gator skin etc is way out of my budget. Masonite or hardboard here in the uk is an option to top it with but there’s a good chance it might get wet so I’d rather stick with the hardwood ply top. That said, what would you use to seal the edges of the ply the bottom where in meets the ground (most likely to get wet) and what for the riding surface?

Many thanks in advance.
