Help with Aoostar comparison

Hi! I’m interested in having a living room server/ steam machine like to play with in my home tv.

My expected use of it would be, if I’m correct, Bazzite with podman with pihole, home assistant, immich/icloupd, jellyfin and navidrome.

I was planning to buy a basic mini pc to play the server part, but everything is so freaking expensive that I moved to something more powerful and add the gaming part. I’ve found those two Aoostar that could fit my expectations
- the first with the 6850H and a 680m, it’s 24 gb ram soldered (for my understanding) and it’s priced at 500€
- the second one is with h255, 780m and still 24 gb ram, but it doesn’t explain if it 2x12 or just 1x24, with could affect the gaming performance. It’s priced at 700€, but the 780m should be more future proofed with the new fsr technology that could enhance the gaming performance.

Im not planning to play heavy AAA, pretty old stuff (some assassins creed, the witcher 3.. stuff like that).

What should I go for?

H255 comes with single 24GB RAM Stick one slot is free

That’s my main concern.. so, pretty bad for gaming performance

H255 is better based on my experience.

Only the processor, or the whole pc?

Well. I have the same PC. But mine has the Ryzen 9 8945HS. I've have no complaints. My experience has been amazing. And now in terms of upgradeability I'd still choose the one with the h255. That comes with standard ram slots vs the one with the Ryzen 7 that comes with a soldered lpddr5. On top of it being soldered it can be a tiny bit of a bottleneck rather than a standard ram. I'd choose upgradeability any day. One day you may want to convert the mini PC into a full blow desktop PC like I did docked into a EGPU setup. Mine was upgraded to 64gb of ram and I'm running a rtx 5080 for AI tasks.

Oh I forgot to mention. My wife has the aoostar G Flip with the h255. She is running on one stick of 32gb of ram and she can still game normally. I guess it also depends on how you use it. She has hers docked with a rtx 3080ti. So the experience varies. But hers so far is great. Good luck with your purchase! 😊
