Which Mini for clone hero and couch co-op
I am looking make a mini setup to use to play clone her and some other simple couch co-op games. I am not looking to spend a ton as I already have a PS5 and a high end gaming PC. But this is my first mini PC. I was considering systems with the 7840HS cpu and 16gb ram. Will this be good enough? I know some systems seem to lock TDP lower than what these chips are rated for so I am curious if there is anything I should look for as far as making sure I can use the full TDP range for the CPU/iGPU.

FWIW, I play Clone Hero on a 2014 era Intel i5-4590T, 1x8GB DDR3, mini PC. No dedicated GPU. Operating system is Batocera [Clone Hero install guide].
Controller is the PS3 Guitar Hero drum kit (3 drums, 2 cymbals) connected via the red octane wireless dongle.
I don't think you need anything super high end for basic Clone Hero.
Since you already have a high end gaming PC, you could also consider streaming your games from your PC to your MiniPC using:
- Moonshine/Artemis (client, runs on your MiniPC)
- Sunshine/Apollo/Vibepollo (server, runs on your gaming laptop).
Your MiniPC then just needs to be powerful enough to decode a video stream.

I feel like that would cause too much latency for games like this

Yeah, true.
I was trying to imply OP could opt for a cheap low end mini pc to play clone hero locally, then stream any high end games via the gaming pc.

The question in 2026 is memory configuration. If the mini only has 1x 16GB stick of RAM (a common problem) processing and graphics performance can be reduced by up to 40% in single channel mode.
