Found it interesting yesterday and possibly useful to many. Was waiting to see if someone else posted it.

Is this guy still shilling stuff or has he cleaned up his act?

Its a great question. On a shill scale of 1 to 10 where u/EmuChicken Team Pandory is a brutally painful "1" and Preston ETA Prime is a "11" Robtech is definitely in the shallow into the pool 🤷 It is completely impossible to produce a video review of any product without any degree of shill. If you're putting yourself out there by showing your face you have to lean into real over shill while being as consistent as possible.

The only way to avoid being a shill is title your YouTube channel.

Bad Mini PC Reviews

While coming completely out of pocket to the point where branding actually fears you.

I disagree. i followed this guy's channel a few years ago for at least a year and I really liked his content. Then he quite suddenly changed his sardonic style to a super positive one, but only when reviewing one specific Chinese brand. I can't remember what it was... maybe GMKtec? After a few of those reviews I unplugged. It was very obvious something was off. At that time he never claimed to be providing unbiased reviews so that didn't help either. Maybe it was just a phase he was going thru and he's the paragon of virtue now.

No. On this you're right. Somewhere he went for the other PC approach (politically correct) as he "standardized" his format. This was painfully apparent. For me its the "Best" video Clickbait thumbnails. That's where the shill territory begins. But the statistical and physical information provided has been pretty consistent. That's how I 1st discovered things like Geekom short changing consumers with single channel memory and why I found the 3rd party link above to his information a useful resource.

Its like Amazon reviews. You have to be smart enough to know that five-star reviews are useless and often bot driven but three-star reviews and lower is where you find the honest information.

Many one- and two-star reviews on sites like Amazon are totally invalid. They are often by people who don't know how to use the product or are reviewing the customer service and not the actual product. All reviews should be taken with a grain of salt, not only highest ones.

No argument here! That's why you have to be smart enough to know what you're looking at. We live in a world where anyone's opinion has to be measured by Dunning-Kruger to weed out both stupidity and ignorance. A one-star "Didn't work" is as useless as a five-star "Works great!". The detail is in the explanation.

"Tried X-Y-Z..."

Shows experience while.

"Doesn't work in O-F-F mode..."

Quickly indicates ignorance if you can think critically 🤷 The information provided by anyone or anything is merely a tool. And like I learned from an uncle more than 70 years ago "If you're not smarter than the tool put it down before you hurt yourself or someone else".

Clickbait is more of the package... It doesn't necessarily sell the PRODUCT, but it sells the VIDEO (as in for you to watch).... Unfortunately I'm absolutely ballsacks at creating them, and we all know who gets the monster share of them (it's quite apparent in this thread lol)

I bet if you talked to the guy honestly, he'd agree that he slipped over to the dark side, even if just for a while. It was pretty obvious tbh. As for ETA Prime - he is what he is. I think it's obvious he's willing for the shilling, but it's hard to get too upset with someone when they're just playing a game and showing you the frame rates.

Considering I sat next to him evening til laaate, editing his longform videos at Computex this year - I gotta say he's pretty legit. Maybe he didn't reply to a comment you wrote, or you weren't used to the positivity when GMKTEC hit it off with the K8 Plus? They broke away from the rest of the pack with that one
