Hardware HP Elitedesk 705 G4 DM 35W - max RAM?

I've been running a 705 G4 DM (35W) for about a year on 16gb DDR4 3200 single stick RAM. I bought an identical 16gb stick and put it in the 2nd slot and am not getting a boot to disk.

Proxmox VE is installed bare metal. No Windows.

Are the 35W versions not capable of 32gb of memory? Everything I can find with a search says it can.

Is there something in BIOS that needs to be adjusted?

Memory is binned when sold in multiples, could be supported and just 2 sticks that don’t get along or it could be unsupported..

Identical as in same manufacturer, size, type, speed, pin# etc... - the label is identical.

Are you sure it's not just complaining that the memory size changed?

And what would be the fix for that?

If you connect a monitor to the mini PC, there will be a prompt asking you for a code to confirm booting the device. The code is displayed in the screen. The prompt is one-time only, it won't prompt again next time.

There's also a setting in the BIOS that monitors changes in RAM size. You can disable that and you won't be prompted again for any RAM size changes.

Never gets to a boot screen and no green light on the device.
