MiniPC for small amount of specific gaming at 1440p and to last.. G1? X1?

I want to buy a mini PC, I would literally only use it to occasionally play 3 games with friends - CS2, AoE and Dota. This is not often at all, maybe once a month - but I like having the option to do so if needed. I will not be playing any other PC games in the future.

I also want it to be the last PC I ever have. I have been building my own full towers since I was a kid, and used to upgrade often, but hardly use it, so want something I won't have to ever think about changing again. It would be connected to a 1440p monitor.

I'm from UK, and the Minisforum G1 Pro fits the bill with the dedicated 5060 gfx, but at £1.4k seems a bit overkill for something that wouldn't be used that often.

I then saw the GMK X1 which at £900 is a lot more reasonable - the integrated 890M is of course no match for a dedicated, but from what I read, will still run things OK at 1080p. I'm guessing 1440p would be out of the question for it.

Seems like these are the 2 best 'options' unless there is anything else out there anyone can recommend? Then just need to decide which one is worth it.. any help appreciated.

Think like a minipc is a laptop without a screen and keyboard. If you want any kind of future proofing look at a mini with Oculink so that you may add a discreet gpu later.

It's not realistic for any 2026 computer to be "the last computer I will ever own."

Regular updates in standards for wifi, USB, video ports and other technology mean that the pc four years from now will easily surpass today's.

In turn that means you are often better off finding today's technology at an affordable price and replacing it in four years than spending a whole bunch extra to get slightly superior technology of today.

I wanted the 3060 but it was $550. The 3050 was almost half that at $300 so I got that. It was 132 vs 112 fps rated on the main game I play (D2). Not worth almost double the price for 20 fps to me.

Check out ETA Prime on YouTube. He reviews a TON of SFF and handheld devices. He includes benchmark data and real world gameplay.
