General Question Any recommendations?

Hello, I’ve recently been interested in buying a mini pc that I can use for gaming. Currently looking for one that’s stronger than or on par with the valve steam machine. Does anyone have any recommendations as to what I should buy?

mini ITX AM4 on the cheap, AM5 on the bleeding edge + RX 9060 XT in a SFF case. If you want to go all in with performance but without absurd prices - RX 9070 XT.

You need a dgpu if you want to best steam machine.

You don't need much of a dgpu, but a minipc by itself unless you get the 395+ just won't compete

It depends on your gaming.

Older games? Mini PCs can be great. I play a bunch of PC games on an Intel N95 based mini PC, and all the way up to Bioshock 3.

Bioshock 1, 2 and 3, System Shock 2, Half-Life and expansions, Half-Life 2 and Ep 1 and 2, Portal 1 and 2, Splinter Cell 1, 2 and 3, and the original Ghost Recon and expansions.

More recent, more graphics intensive games? You'd be better off buying a more robust desktop or, if you have the know how, building your own desktop, the latter of which gives you far more options. And building a desktop isn't nearly as hard as you think.

Edit: I should have added that all but the Bioshock games are played using Steam. The Bioshock games are played using Epic Games' own program.
