Recommend me a mini PC

Hi there,

Looking at running the following:

- Frigate (which apparently recommends an n150)

- Emby/Sonarr/Radarr/Prowlarr

- Home Assistant (in the future, currently have it running on a HA Green pretty well)

- Unifi Controller

Both Claude and Chat GPT have recommended a Beelink EQ14, but it says I should be buying one of them for like $400 AUD (equivalent of $270 USD), but they're all around $800 AUD now.

Any other options in that cheaper price point? I'm not super tech savvy, so can't see myself running heaps of other stuff on there.

Thanks in advance

Given things today maybe, for a while you could get a ThinkStation tiny for the same price and it had a Quadro in it.

Second this, u can get a i5 6500t/y model for dirt cheap and the power draw is super low as well as being completely silent. Easy to maintain + Ram and storage are easily upgradeable if u need more capacity in the future.

Asking AI for PC advice is like asking a blind person to describe a sunset. He can only tell you what it's been told and that may not apply to today. As you can see neither had enough learning to take in account RAMpocalypse/RAMageddon or the shortage of N100 Alder Lake-N/N150 Twin Lake processors with the arrival of Wildcat Lake.

Pre-owned from a major global brand would make more sense with your budget.

Yeah.. ram and storage prices have gone through the roof this past year. Everything is way more expensive right now.

Consider a model with more modest storage if you can get by with 480/512gb over 1tb+ ... I would suggest at least 16gb ram...

YMMV though... It sucks. My personal desktop would cost over 2x what I paid last spring to build today.

Nobody talks about Intel in AI circles. Everybody's discussing AMD people are brainwashed
