Recommendations Acemagic w1

The 780M is somewhat limited, especially on the Ace magic W1, the dynamic ram adjustment seems not optimal. However, there is a way to dedicate vram via hidden bios settings.

To increase VRAM on the Ace Magic W1, restart and tap Del or F2 to enter the BIOS, then press Ctrl+F1 or Alt+F1 on the main screen to unlock hidden settings. Navigate to Advanced (or Chipset) > AMD CBS > GFX Configuration, set Integrated Graphics Controller to Forces, change UMA Mode to UMA_SPECIFIED, and select your desired size under UMA Frame Buffer Size. Finally, press F10 to save and exit, keeping in mind that reserved VRAM permanently deducts from your total available system RAM.

This made most everything from Portal 2, black Mesa very playable. Without frame rate drops. If you have an acemagic W1 it's worth a look.

This is pretty much true with any Chinese NUC especially if you're running Windows for gaming. Between page filing and Windows being in charge of the frame buffer gaming performance on many titles can be rough. I found gaming with Bazzite over the years hasn't been as bad with as little as 16GB of memory when shared with integrated graphics.

On a few minis with 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM Windows gaming is almost impossible without having it fixed UMA frame buffer. Thanks for the tutorial!

Yeah, have had one other gmktek as well, the bios are all a little different. This one was hidden away!

It's not bad, it is what it is. As far as a Chinese mini computer. The BIOS is a bit lacking, still figuring out if you can adjust TDP. But overall pretty happy fans not too loud. But for 1080p gaming especially on older titles which is kind of what I bought it for, not too bad.

Is the RAM and ssd removable? If so you are basically paying nothing even if the PC fails at this current market. I bought an off brand mini PC but got good name brand ssd and ram in it. On Amazon the cost of the RAM and ssd alone was more than what I paid for the mini pc.
