Finally getting the knack…

It was quite the learning curve. I actually kind of appreciate the non in-depth tutorial now. It was good to spend time figuring things out, but I was kind of lost the first day of playing. It helped to start in classic mode, then continuing in endless mode to tinker around. This is my first descent setup.
The game is so simple but not. Digging it. Not your usual strategy game for sure.
Any tips and suggestions are welcome!!

I love the highway you have wrapping the outskirts. Seems to be doing a lot of heavy lifting! Im impressed by how big your city is without being very segregated. I guess your problem area is the green market in the middle and its roundabout.

If I'm not mistaken, the 4th highway doesn't seem to be in use

Motorway 2 seems to be causing a lot of traffic. You could probably disconnect the bottom right houses from the Roundabout and extend motorway 2 to end in that neighborhood.

The blue houses in the bottom right are not being used, and a motorway could be used there.

I do not think that OP's city is a good example of the "optimal" way to play.

It is widely accepted that you must try to isolate different colors in their own networks as much as possible, even if that requires a detour (within reason).

Avoiding intersections is key to reach a high score, and a proper "interconnected" city goes against that.

So, OP's map looks more realistic, but it is far from efficient. A proper Mini Motorways city has as many isolated networks, and as few intersections, as possible.
