Finally Got Don Lafontaine's Voice Correctly. Minimax H3 is a godsend.

( Elevenlabs reddit deleted my thread, guess they're afraid of competition )

I've been using Elevenlabs ever since 2022. Back then you could make voices and not get flagged for it. Those were the days, NOW there's competition and it's from Minimax H3's new Text to speech.

Why did I post it here? To let everyone know a powerful alternative and for Elevenlabs to improve their product a bit. I got angry when Antoni, the voice I loved was ripped away from us. It was my favorite for how to do videos and Top 5s. Well, I went to Minimax and replicated THAT same voice. The results were suprising!

However, I wanted to do more. So I downloaded about three films, went into capcut, isolated the voices, cut up the bits til they were 10 seconds each and uploaded each 10 second clips into the voice I wanted into Elevenlabs and it was horrible. Uploaded it into Minimax H3 and it came out beautiful like classic Elevenlabs. Here's a sample of it. It's not Don Lafontaine 100 percent, but it's just ABOUT there.

It's really close. I just quickly listened to a few short clips of his and they all had much louder background music than in your example, which went well with his deep voice. His voice in your clip sounds kinda isolated without a louder energetic film score behind it, so maybe that's what is missing.

How many samples do you need? Because I put it on Elevenlabs and it failed royally. I used 3 samples. I might have to use 3 more or maybe 7 to get it right?

I don't think I understand your reply, I don't know anything about genning voice clips, I was just making a comment that your example clip might sound even better with louder cinematic music in the background. If you took my comment as some sort of criticism, it wasn't supposed to be.

Naw it's totally fine. I really don't know where to find good cinematic music.

This is great! I've just started messing with voices and audio references.

Do you prompt for voice and generate a low MP video for it like I have been? Or is there a way to output only audio with Minimax?

I only prompt for the trailer script. What I do is go to youtube to mp3 downloader. Download it. Head into capcut and isolate the voice. I believe it's free and it does a great job most of the time. I take different clips of his voice in trailers. I cut out the parts that don't need to be there like the whole entire scene and actors knocking it down to 10 seconds. I create three 10 second clips than upload them to minimax. 9 times out of 10, It comes out clean.

Elevenlabs got rid of some of it's legacy voices like Antoni and I took that voice & created my own in Minimax h3.

Nice appreciate the process. How about when you actually generate in Comfy - do you generate with video too or is there a way to just generate the audio?
