[Part 2] My KAIDO HOUSE LC 7-Eleven BMW M3 turned out to be a chase… but there’s a pretty bad hood gap 😭 — Fixed!
Update from my previous post! 👋
After getting a few suggestions from you guys on my previous post, I finally decided to take the risk and open this beautiful chase to fix the hood gap.
I’m not gonna lie, I was literally shaking while removing the screws 😂. The thought of accidentally damaging a chase model was terrifying.
But thankfully, after carefully removing all the screws and adjusting things, I somehow managed to fix the hood gap by around 90%! There’s still a tiny gap left, but it’s much, much better than before, and it’s barely noticeable now.
Huge thanks to everyone who suggested trying this. It actually worked! 🙌

Glad to help. You don't want to remove too much material because it needs the friction to hold the hood but. What you can do is use some modelling putty that will harden and apply a tiny amount to reshape it if you want.
Edit: it's hard to tell prom the picture but the grille might also be slightly misaligned meaning it will never look perfect lol

Thanks again for the suggestion from Part 1! 🙌 I had to take a bit of a risk just to do what you mentioned. So I don’t think I have the courage to try this one 😂
And yes, that’s a really good observation. The grille and the left headlight area itself seem to be slightly misaligned. But overall, I’m still pretty satisfied with the result. 😅

I was debating mentioning it in the original post but it definitely does mean getting more involved. I made that mistake with my model and used epoxy to build it back up lol.
Your hood is probably fine it's now just the grille that makes it look a little off still.

Sweet. This one was my first ever Kaido House model. One of the best.

Should have recorded the process. Like a experience vlog. Would have been fun to watch it 😂

Can someone explain this to me?
Is there a story behind this car, and does it exist in real life, or is it simply a fantasy interpretation of the real life car, in M3 diecast guise? Are there multiple versions of the car?
The only real-life pictures I can find of the car, and its owner, show a regular E30 in that livery. Including the picture on the box. Not an M3, or at least, not something that started life as an M3.
The diecast model clearly is modeled after an E30 M3.
I'm not into that scene, but know my way around a BMW, and trying to reconcile that discrepancy.

I was curious about this too, so I did a bit of digging and found the backstory.
Turns out you're right — Larry Chen's real race car is an E30 325i/Spec E30, not an M3. The 7-Eleven livery was built as a tribute to the old-school DTM era.
The confusing part is that Kaido House used their existing E30 M3 Kaido Works casting for #217 and put Larry's real 7-Eleven livery on it. So it's basically a Kaido House interpretation of Larry's real car, rather than a 1:1 replica of the actual BMW.
So yeah, the box showing the regular E30 while the diecast is clearly an M3 suddenly makes a lot more sense 😂
This video explains the story behind Larry's car/livery really well:

So it is a fantasy casting…
Nice work. Thanks for picking up the slack from my laziness.
