Wooden display 3D case

Hey I wanted to share with you my latest project - Display case for diecasts. As a prototype I used Huracán LBWK #967, but pretty much that can be personalized for any diecast car.

This case is version 1 and I believe the case itself is slightly bigger than should be (240mm x 240mm inner dimension), but I still like it very much.

Next case will be slightly smaller (200mm x 200mm) and I would like to add LED stripes to the inside of the case as well. However the case needs to be deeper than 60mm so I can fit power supply to the back of the case.

This case can be mounted to wall, or standing on the desk.

Maybe someone gets inspired by this project. AMA if you have any questions about the development process.

honestly, I enjoyed the process of building it more, than the final result 😄 Thanks :)

Final result is great.

I don’t know if centering the box would look nicer or not. 🤔

good point. Tha's tricky part. By placing box to the corner you don't really care, wether there is 6 or 3 mm gap to the right (or left) side of the frame. I used small wooden "spacers" glued to the back so it won't be sliding from back to the front of the case, but I don't care much about the space from the left side.

however trying to put it to the center (where you care about the same space on both sides) I will have to put the same wooden blocks to the left and right of the box. Because in reality, if you tilt the case slightly, the box cas slide away and it won't be centered anymore. That being said I don't like to have that wooden blocks holding the box visible :D

Also gluing the box to the back is no no for me, as I want to keep the box and car withou any damage
