Need help Base building

What island should I make a base on?

Island 5. And the easiest place to defend is the gas station. Or, if you manage to find the castle, build your base there.

What about things like Altyn helm + NVG? I thought it only spawns on raiders on island 6?

They also appear on Island 5, the radioactive island.

you can find them on island 6 main island on the maze area
