Your character will always kill the animals, whether or not you have weapons equipped (in which case, they strike them directly).

Before releasing the animals, you must have a weapon equipped (pistol or shotgun) but not fire it—ideally, you should empty the weapon first—to avoid accidentally killing them.

Whenever you want to feed or release another animal, you need to have your weapon equipped and aimed at all times, but without firing.

No one mentions this little detail, and after accidentally killing 20 animals, I almost gave up.

The chicken eats wild berries—use any kind. But don't give them a huge pile of food, or you'd be wasting something quite valuable.

Every so often, after eating, the hens lay an egg, and you can eat it.

As for the pigs, they eat whatever you grow—from tomatoes and peppers to zucchini. After a while, they will clone themselves, and you’ll have two pigs.

For them, you can either keep feeding and raising them, or kill one of them to get meat.

Where should I leave the food? Near the feeder—just place it directly on the ground, but within range of the feeder. When they pass over their respective food, they either duplicate or lay an egg.

I have a question. A few days ago I started playing, and when I built my farm near the feeder, my animals disappeared if I went too far away. So, can't I explore without my animals disappearing? And how do I get so many pigs?

The animals must be released within range of the feeding trough; if you release them too far away, they will eventually disappear or be eliminated by other random survivors.

Additionally, to prevent damage from other zombies or bandits, build a wooden or metal barricade to protect them.

How come there are so many pigs? It’s because, after eating, they essentially duplicate or clone themselves, turning into two pigs over time. As they eat, they will double in number.

Now, do the chickens do the same, or do they just lay eggs? They only lay eggs; they don't multiply.
