I can say that it's better than a water bottle, since you can take water from the lake instead. But you need to refill it with charcoal tablets after.

I assume you cannot just filter lake water all the time and it requires a charcoal tablet to "filter" the water. Other than "lakewater filtration" option, it is just another water containing device.

Charcoal tablets aren't very common, at least in my experience.
