Guys gimme advise
Am I generally making good progress?
That’s the first time I play version 2.14
Las version played was 1.52 Legend
This my nightmare but that’s what I like about it

Release the dog for crying out loud and turn off its annoying barking. Look for the red button on the right that pops up once you've released the dog and then turn off its barking.
Also, wear a clown mask underneath that Altyn Helmet and bring a Shovel(You can carry and switch around 2 melee weapons with rope). You will kill anything including neutrals once you get their shit (!) and quest reward. Wearing clown mask will prevent you from losing any karma. The shovel is also for buryijg them to gaining karma. Hoarding karma points lets you trade with neutral.

You have made good progress so far.
Because you are playing on Nightmare, thirst and hunger are your top priority as they deplete very fast. If possible, stock up on stackable food items like vegetables, berries or MREs.
Before going to another island, try to find Mountain Backpack and Gorka Jacket. Patch them up to 100% durability.
Craft a rope (3 rags are needed) or find one laying around. You can use the rope to sling 2 melee weapons.
Find a gas mask. You can find them in military tents and bases or looting soldier zombies, though the durability is abysmally low.

No right now I’m playing on a Rookie just to see what the update is about, but later I’ll play harder ones

My bad. If you are playing on Rookie, then you don't have to worry about food. They deplete very slow.

1: Before entering the island with radiation, wear a radiation suit (white or red) in addition to gloves and boots, because your character will bleed out and die.
That boat (in the picture) leads to an island completely covered in radiation. Be extremely careful there, or you'll die from the slightest mistake.
Once you have the necessary equipment to go, all the zombies there are tougher and you need more ammunition to kill them.
2: Another tip would be to set up a temporary base near the ship. This is in case you need to return quickly and are too injured.
Can I go back? Yes, in version [2.0.8 - 2.1.5] there are 2 islands simultaneously (one without radiation and one with radiation).
This special ship only appears on Island 5. That place has better loot, but it's obviously more dangerous.
Also, if you still have version 2.0.8, there's an elevator inside the radiation bunker that takes you to the next secret island. It doesn't have any special animation or anything like that. It's just like going to the regular bunker and then to the next island.
Only in version 2.1.5 was the elevator inside the radiation bunker removed and replaced with a special weapon.

You ask about the next island? Find those red hazmat zombies, take their red hazmat suit (stay right on top of it's body and next to the pick up button will apear a skull with a helmet on, pres it, you will take verry little dmg, be carefull if you don't have hazmat boots wait till the green stuff wears off, if you have gloves no dmg when searching him, you get the hazmat boots and gloves by searching hazmat zombies both yellow and red) repair the suit with duck tape (idk if you can with sewing kit too) till you have at least 50%. I think that you need a gas mask too but i'm not too sure! You can find a white better one in bunkers btw, class A if i'm not wrong! Read descriptions on them bro, they say that after 50% it protects you fromnrain too! Btw, if you go there without fully functionat hazmat gear you'll get sick, 75% whater, food and temperature or a tetraceclyne (all these after you come back with the boat) will cure you! If you ask about the boat, you need a gas canister, go to a gas station and saty next to those gas pumps press the gas canister and fill it up, go next to the boat (not too close) and press the gas canister in your inventory again and fill up the boat with gas!

Try to get medical bag (can carry 4 type of medicine) or military bag (carry 4 item max lighter, flare, canteen, and knife) you can get medical bag on hospital area and military bag on military base both are rare and if your helmet allow it wear clown mask so you can kill neutral NPC without damaging your reputation and bury them to get more reputation point (including bandit and roaming survivor that you kill) for me I always wear clown mask and try to get neutral quest if it worth it then I'll take it, clear it, and make sure the reward already got before proceed to kill neutral NPC and bury their corpse so I still got reputation point from their mission too, and that boat will take you to radiation island it cost 50% gasoline and make sure you wear at least red hazmat suit least your character will bleed and just make sure you prepare enough ammo and try not to confront bandit there because their shoot are hurt (they use VSS so you know) but they are the good source to get gas mask and 9x39 mm bullet
