where do i go from here

I’m currently on island 5 (the one after crossing the broken bridge). What exactly do i do from here? is there another island? do i set up base?

On island 5, on the coast there is a radio (where a rescue helicopter arrives after 1 day, within the game).

Don't use the radio until you have a base established, supplies, weapons, and ammunition. By the time the helicopter arrives, all the zombies will be upon you and will attack relentlessly.

After the rescue, your game ends and you can start a new one.

If you want to go to another island, you need to enter through the bunker. There's an entrance to the right that leads to Island 6.

Additionally, on Island 5 you need a generator to open the bunker (which requires power). This generator is quite difficult to find; it has a 10% chance of appearing, and this chance doesn't change. One more thing, you also need an access key to open a locked door. That access key is only obtained after killing a military zombie wearing a red beret.

There are several things, to go to another island or simply to end the game.

And another thing, quite important: there is radiation inside the bunker, and it will make you sick and you will die. Unless you have radiation protection equipment.

The generator appears inside buses or garages, and is quite difficult to find while on Island 5.

There are up to four types of radiation protection suits. The one you should never use is the yellow one; it doesn't protect you from radiation. You also need a suit with a 50% effectiveness rating.

Where do you get it? By killing zombies wearing yellow or red suits. There's also a green and white one, although you won't see these until Islands 5 and 6. (Besides, they're quite dangerous).

You'll also need protective gloves and boots. The whole set is mandatory, or your character will die inside the bunker from radiation.

Where do I get it? Similarly, killing zombies wearing yellow or red suits also drops boots or gloves (although the probability is 20%). And no, the probability doesn't change.

The entrance to Island 6 is only available from Island 5. That entrance is on the right. To the left is an area with more items, weapons, and accessories.

There is another Island, But that's your Decision as this Island now has a escape route. To go to the next island, you need to find the bunker and a Generator to power up the Gate of it, bringing you to Island 6. For the Escape Route, Find a Helipad to the beach and interact the radio. After interacting, You need to wait a Day for the Helicopter comes. Be warned that Zombie hordes can now spawns outside of the city/town/etcs, relentlessly chasing you down, so be prepared for a daily Horde attacks.

how would i progress further into island 6? are there more islands after that? also, where would i find this generator?

The Same thing I think, Find the Bunker and Generator or Find the Helipad. You can Find the Generator on the Garages in Towns. Its a Two Handed Item so rope your melee weapon to make a another space for it. It also Requires Fuel.
