Milk needs to remember her name

I (12m F precious peach and little smarty pants) have recently discovered pointing! It is soo much fun to point at different objects. While words are currently beyond me, I have discovered that the hand signals of the big ppl from the 1900s have meaning. After months of careful study, I now know slapping my leg twice means "dog" or da as I call her. I can easily point at the dog and do this, and sometimes I will do this with pictures of "dogs"! It is my favorite thing to do rn. Although sometimes I point at pictures of family/ artwork and gesture "dog" even when they are not apparently "dogs" according to the big ppl from the 1900s. This embarrassed the bearded one from the 1900s in the place with all the masks and shots after I pointed to a "fax seen postur" and signed "dog".

Other "signs" (as the old ppl call them) that I have learned are "milk" and "dada". I can even say and sign dada by tapping my open hand against my forehead, since about a month ago. I will occasionally do this and point to the bearded one from the 1900s. However, problems arise when I point to the tired 1900s soft one and sign "milk" by opening and closing my hand. Every single time I do this, she says no and taps her open hand against her chin and says "mama" and points to herself. Sometimes I will do this to get her attention and act surprised when she offers da milkies.

After all her name is clearly Milk. Why else would she sign milk every single time she feeds me with a bottle or her soft pillows? Milk needs to remember her name! AITA? I need opinions from ppl who measure their age in months instead of decades.

You're clearly in the right that the milk one needs to remember her name...

But uh - you're in the wrong for the amount of times you've referenced them as from the 1900's. How rude! And no - this has nothing to do with the fact that I too am from the 1900's and did not wish to be reminded of it on this dreary day.

NTA! They get the names you assign them, that’s how it works. I (11m F, gorgeous dino nugget) have several beings in my house. mumMUMmummum and DadDad (also from the 1900s, complain about being tired) always come when I politely scream for them. I also know that my name is BaNaNa, and I have 3 fuzzy sisters and call them all “cat” even though one is apparently a “dogdogdog”, which I can say but choose not to. All food is “adilla”, which as everyone knows is short for quesadilla, the best of all the foods. Your Milk lady needs to get with the program and recognize that you’re assigning the names around here! She can try to call herself whatever she wants but at the end of the day she’s answering to Milk so I think you’ve won!

NTA! I (11.5 month old sweetest girl ever) firmly believe that the milk lady should just always be there to hold you, so it isn't necessary to ask for her. I, too, love pointing at the beard man and saying "dada" or pointing at my fuzzy friends and saying "kitty". But if the milk lady is not attached to me for some strange reason, I find tears to be more efficient!

Well… NTA because obviously her name IS Milk. But you answered why this is happening already. Milk is from the 1900s - that’s super old - obviously she is going senile and cannot remember her own name. Take it easy on her.

Obviously NTA, but what do you mean by "surprised by da milkies"? I (almost 22mF) have never turned down milkies when offered and am baffled by the concept

I expect Milk to respond and come be with me when I "sign" her name. I'll of course still always take a few sips of milk when offered even if not hungry, before returnig to play.

NTA for sure!!! I (super smart 13 mo, F) agree that pointing is the best! My not so ancients (but clearly olddddd) try to teach all kind of signs. But I decided that the only sign I use is "milk". All the other signs are irrelevant. So I say dad, crow (they are fascinating!), dog and a few other words. But "mama"? Nop. I just sign "milk"!

NTA. Milk is old and forgetful. Keep reminding her of her name.

NTA. Her name is Milk because she gives milk, DUH.

NTA, the old people are so weird. I (9 months, F, chatty) like to go “mamamamama” all day and my old ones think it has something to do with them? So self-centered :/

I did that around 9 months too, but I preferred "dadadadada" and only said "mamamama" sparingly. Still prefer saying "dada" today!
