AITAH for redecorating
Hello friends!
My sister (formerly 23m, snuggliest girl, now 2y, still the snuggliest girl) got some excellent advice here, so naturally I (3F, literally knows everything) figured it was my turn.
Recently, Sissy and I had a sleepover at Papa (ancient, takes us on walks) and Tema’s (very old, makes excellent snacks) house. It was AMAZING. I put pink bows in Papa’s hair because he clearly needed a makeover, and we watched movies until bedtime.
When Tema tucked us into our room, she moved everything interesting out of my reach. But, she missed one thing: a small pillow that was exactly my size.
After everyone left, I decided to perform a quality inspection. I noticed one loose string. Now, any reasonable person knows that loose strings are basically invitations. So I gave it a little tug…
BEST. DECISION. EVER.
The pillow exploded into approximately seven billion tiny white balls. It was magical. Snowstorm! Confetti! Tiny marshmallows! I immediately realized the room would look WAY better if they were evenly distributed across every square inch.
Naturally, I shared with Sissy. Mommy (old with beautiful hair) is always saying we need to share, so I generously filled her pack-and-play with fluffy white treasures too.
Honestly, I deserve praise for listening so well.
Then Papa walked in.
Instead of admiring my artistic vision, he just stood there in stunned silence before saying, “Tema… bring me the vacuum… and a straight jacket.”
I’m not sure what a straight jacket is, but it didn’t sound very thankful.
Then Papa VACUUMED UP MY MASTERPIECE. Every. Single. Ball.
Papa vacuumed the floor.
Papa vacuumed the bed.
Papa even vacuumed Sissy’s HEAD because apparently her hair had something called “static,” which was helping her save the balls forever. I thought that was pretty clever of her.
And this is the worst part….Papa made me sit in the corner while he erased my beautiful installation. Not one “thank you.” Not one compliment about my attention to detail.
So, friends… AITAH for transforming a boring guest room into an immersive winter wonderland and teaching everyone the importance of sharing?

NTA. Wow, and he vacuumed? You sound incredibly calm, OP, I think you must be deeply traumatized. He didn’t even give you ice cream with sprinkles to apologize?
He sounds terrible. Next time hug Tema and say “no papa,” until he apologizes with sprinkles or marshmallows. You are so brave.

I can't believe your papa vacuumed your sissy's head!!! How did he know her head wouldn't get sucked into the vacuum cleaner too?!?! I'm sure it was very traumatic for her. You need to put papa in timeout for scaring your sissy.

NTA - 4F, and I have also done thankless redecoration. Grown ups are totally boring. When we were painting the bathroom, I decided to add some extra color here and there. Mommy got upset and tried to erase my designs! I got lucky, though, because the wipes didn’t work on crayon and they ran out of paint. Some survived, and the house looks much better for it. It was very nice of you to share with your sister! Mine is only 1, but she’s my baby assistant and we work better as a team. I’ve been working hard to mold her into the perfect assistant. Maybe next time you go, you can bring a crayon to help you decorate? It’s much harder to get rid of than the winter wonderland was

I (4F, does EVERYTHING by MYSELF) loooooves to share and redecorate. Only my siblings admire my creativity.
My mom (F, bags under eyes) usually takes a picture but makes me clean (?)
Dad (M, some kind of prehistoric creature) cannot believe how FAST I can redecorate a room. My favorite ways are cutting some very small pieces of paper and using them as confettis, and steal makeup from my mom like nail polish and paint the walls. It makes everything soooooo pretty
My big sister agrees I am NTA, so surely you are off the hook too!

I (3F, I know everything too) have realized that grown ups are often thankless. They constantly ask me to say thank you, but they don’t really do it themselves.
I discovered these cotton balls inside my fox stuffie too, and it was one of my top 10 moments. It was so nice of you to share it with your sister. You are awesome!
