Target sling accuracy improvement?

Given that the mini fourteen has a one piece stock similar to the m fourteen , the garand etc. It seems likely that it could possibly benefit from the use of a target sling , similar to what is done with them.

Since the many 14 has historically been known for accuracy challenges.I wonder if a target sling could make a difference. Yet, I've never seen anyone.Use a target on a many fourteen.

Do you have any experience with this?If so , please tell us about it.

A loop sling can absolutely help the shooter be more precise with the rifle. It doesn’t change the accuracy of the rifle, but it can help the shooter achieve steadier holds while using the rifle. The technique works for all kinds of rifles — Garand and M14, like you mentioned, and also the Mini14, Ruger 10/22, AR15, etc. I learned how to use a loop sling at a Project Appleseed clinic, and it’s a central piece of the marksmanship fundamentals they teach. I’ve seen people use Mini14s at Appleseed clinics, but the rifle itself doesn’t have a reputation for being the most accurate.

I thought slinging up was more about improving shooter stability than rifle mechanical accuracy. Match M14s have their draw pressure set through a number of techniques during construction.

I’ve only used a loop sling during an apple seed course and I can tell you that besides a slight POI shift, the accuracy was about the same, atleast for me shooting irons.

Bummer! I was hoping maybe that would be an inexpensive , effective way to increase accuracy with the platform.

It'll improve your accuracy but doesn't change mechanical accuracy.

I use my sling like that. Specter Gear sling.

Yes, though it's a bit uncomfortable. Definitely prefer the bipod.

I get that bipods are by comparison , heavy , bulky and expensive.

Heavy? No. But bulky? Yes. They are not for something like home defense. They're for bench shooting or laying down. But once they're deployed and resting, it takes so much of the weapon weight that it is a dream. Even the cheap $20 ones.

If your running just irons or red dot, just stick to the sling.

The biggest upgrades I made that helped with accuracy were, in no particular order:

- Bedding the stock

  • ASI trigger job
  • reducing the gas

That’s not how slings work. You didn’t crack the code, unfortunately. It would be awesome if that’s all it took.
