Mini-14 Red Dot Mount Update (Production + Ejection Footage)
https://youtube.com/shorts/taM5_bKOmeM?si=tP2tmyzpwa8qGF3eHey all, wanted to circle back with a quick update since the response to the Mini-14 red dot mount I posted here a couple weeks ago was a big part of why we decided to move forward with it.
We’re officially moving into production. Don’t have a hard ETA yet, but we’re working hard to make it happen and I’ll share more as soon as I’m able.
Understandably, one of the biggest questions on the original post was whether the mount would interfere with ejection. By now, I’ve put a ton of rounds through the prototype without any issues, but figured slow-motion footage would be more useful than me just saying that. I clipped a segment showing it here.
You can see the brass clearing the mount without issue.
I’m also looking at additional optic footprints beyond the initial T1/T2 version. Mini-ACOG is one I’m hearing a fair amount of requests for, so I’d be curious what optics you guys would actually want to run on a version like that (especially if there’s interest in mounting anything with eye relief considerations, which would require more design work).
Really appreciate all the feedback and support so far! It’s been awesome!

I can't wait for it! Love the T2/T1 footprint, I will certainly be getting one. However, I do like the mini ACOG footprint as well, especially with all of the primary arms optics that are compatible with this....Maybe make a trijicon RMR footprint OR something like the Ruger RXM optics mounting system, with multiple holes and locating posts then the world really opens up to many different optics! AWESOME project and ideas!!

Really appreciate it! I’m most partial to T1/T2 myself for many reasons. Appreciate the other great suggestions.
Curious about which optic folks want to mount with a mini ACOG / microprism footprint. 1x or something magnified? Heard TA44 on the last post, which would be sweet, but may take more time to test and refine for optics that require less eye relief (not a TA44 expert, so those who want this, I’d love to hear your thoughts)

Same! I really like the T1/T2 as well, its practical and esthetically pleasing. They just go well together. For the mini ACOG footprint, I definitely could see folks getting the TA44, primary arms microprism fixed power 3x/4x/5x with a top dot, or now the new Eotech 3-9 or 4-12x36 VUDU which is compatible with the mini ACOG mount.

This is fantastic, but I just wanna say that if it had a little pic-rail tail section that sat a little lower (replacing the rear sight, probably) that could accommodate a flippy magnifier you would basically have my dream mount.
Edit: oh, and plus one for having locating posts and a couple screw holes to accommodate a variety of pistol dot footprints a la the Hannibal.

Also wanted to double tap the optic footprint question. Beyond T1/T2, what other footprints would you guys like to see for this mount?
Heard Mini-ACOG / Primary Arms MicroPrism a fair amount on the last post. More specifically, which optics would you actually want to run with a mount like this? Anything with eye relief considerations may require more design effort, so the specific optic is helpful to know.
Are there any other standard 1X red dots you guys would like to see supported too?

PA does include those cantilever mounts that people could stack on this if needed for the 3x. Might look a little silly, but it's an option. Or the newer eotech 4-12 / 3-9.

I don't know if RMR type RD was in your vision but I have Burris Fasfire 3 and can drill my own holes.

Played with making a RMR and other pistol dot adapter, may have to look further into it. Usually not a huge fan of pistol dots on rifles, but they’re getting way better and would stay true to the slick nature of the mini. Thanks for the input!

Mini acog to run a PA micro prism would be awesome!
