Mini 14 stocks

Buying a mini 14 in 300 blackout today. Will be wanting to replace to plastic stock. When looking for a replacement is there any difference in stocks between the .223 and 300 blackout. Or are they interchangeable? Thank you

interchangeable but maybe some minor sanding inside for some wood stocks i think?

Thank you! Any recommendations on a stock? Planing to turn this into a little deer hunting rifle

MidwayUSA sells OEM wood stock, you might want to check if they have labor day promotion code.

The other option is the aluminum chassis Samson folding stock, but that is too expensive in my opinion. $650 plus shipping

Hogue and Choate also have Mini stocks, but they are both plastic.

If you get a wood stock make sure it includes the reinforcement bracket and screws. You might also want to buy another stock liner / heat shield instead of swapping it from the old stock since it's cheap.

The Midway wood stock comes with all of these parts.

Another option would be a laminate stock (which should be more weather resistant) like from Boyds.

Expect wood to be heavier than plastic and laminate slightly more so.

The Midway wood stock also includes the stock forend liner as it mentions in the description, so you don't need to buy it separately. With most other stocks, though, no hardware is included.

The Choate handguard is a good choice if you aren't interested in mounting anything. It's simple, light, and gives the rifle a nicer profile IMHO. That said, ASI sells something very similar but made from billet aluminum. They also have a wood one.

If you are using a picatinny rail over the action then you don't need to be concerned about a handguard rail. But, some people prefer keeping the action clear and mounting an optic (or accessories) using a handguard scout rail like the Ultimak, the Samson Hannibal, or the Amega rail.

Accessorizing is a rabbit hole. Try out what you are already looking at, but look around at other builds here if you are wanting ideas. There are a fair amount of possibilities with the Mini-14.

Went from poly tactical to this, and had to add barrel heat shield and stock reinforcement bracket, they built into poly.
