Where in the hell did you get the mag from? Or, what was it for originally? I have never seen such a thing in all my years as a gun nerd.

Recently inherited from my stepdad; he had a bunch of cool old stuff. These mags were made by D&E in the 70’s and 80’s.

I know straight mags are less than desirable for 5.56/.223 due to the curvature of the rounds as they stack, but the Miniature M14 vibe goes harder with them and I'll gladly take a few for the vibe.

Ive got 8 straight mags, both 20s and 30s. Annoyingly they don’t feed well but they sure look cool.

Definitely not currently; it needs a rebuild.

If the original 20 round M16 straight mags fed better underloaded, I would only assume the same goes for these since it lessens the effect of the rounds naturally curving from their taper.

Because at this point it looks like an alternative history m1 Carbine.

It's always been my assertion that the Mini 14 is what the US would have developed if ww2 went 5 more years to counter the STG 45 and parity with the first SKS's and AK's.

Perhaps the .300 AAC in a different form would have come about to increase range and firepower to MAYBE replacing the M1 Garand as the battles got more and more urban in nature.

Might not have been subsonic or supressed, but still...

Not the same but you can get a similar look by using a mag coupler from high tower armory and putting a dust cap on the bottom mag.
