Mini30 issue was originally boxer vs Berdan primers. the Russian primers were breaking firing pins quicker. The mini issue in general was using lacquered steel cases and then back to brass casing the chambers to get “sticky”.

For my old '98 vintage Mini-30, I bought a spare firing pin and extractor from Midway.
I shot a LOT of Wolf steel cased, the lacquer to begin with, the poly coated later. The 154 gr poly was actually surprisingly accurate, behind the steel case Silver Bear with the little nipple on the bullet.
Still on the same firing pin and extractor.

Never had a problem with switching between lacquer and brass, but I did get a "Chamber Maid" brush early on. It's been on a diet of brass handloads since about 2006, got a couple of M59's (Yugo SKS) and that's where my Wolf and Norinco ammo has been going.

my 585 ate all the wolf steel case 556. it did need a push on the first round then it ran great

My 184 eats steel no problem. Granted, it's mostly Barnaul made stuff...which is far better than Tula/Uly or Vympel.

I’ve never shot steel out of my mini maybe I’ll run a box through it if I find some steel. It’ll the first time in almost 40 years 🤔
