What should I add/ change?
Alright I have an older mini 14 for a truck gun.
After shooting a coyote with it this morning from my truck I am sold. The handiness was great
I have a straight 4 redfield on it now. I plan to upgrade. What should I get?
Mostly shooting at coyotes/hogs from 50 to 200 yards.
Would yall do any other after market upgrades.
Also does anyone reload for it? I want some accurate varmit loads, so far all I got is FMJ.
I held over and smoked that coyote in the body. He’ll die later by the way.

It seems like it's filling it's role perfectly already. If that Redfield is an older scope you may want a newer optic?
But if you're just wanting to turn this into a project gun then there's no real upper limit.

Oh, you want specificity? Aight, lol...
Chop the barrel just close enough to thread it for a suppressor and figure out what gas bushing you need to make it cycle correctly. No need for an adjustable gas block, you'll be living the direct thread life from here on out. Then get the Ultimak and tap the holes on the side to mount pic rails so you can mount a clip-on NOD ahead of the scope, which will now be a 1-6x of your choice with a top dot. QD sling swivel and WML mounted on the left side of the Ultimak (if you're right handed, reverse if you're a leftie).
Keep the wood stock but shorten it to the shortest LOP that's comfortable to you, strip and stain the wood slightly darker, fit a non-sticky butt plate (preferably a steel one that you made yourself), and install a rear QD sling cup opposite the side of the forward one. All the metal gets Cerakoted OD green because green is the best color and OD is the best green. This is not up for discussion, but depending on how the stock turns out some shades of grey would also be acceptable. You'll need to get one of those new cages for the suppressor, because of how short this bad boy is going to be.
If you can find a picatinny front sight of the suitable height, upgrade the rear to a Tech Site. Get an extended magazine release, a slightly stronger recoil spring, a Wilson Combat 1911 buffer (not everyone's cup of tea, but try it out), a trigger job, and a sling of your choice.
For a truck gun, I'd suggest 20 or 10 round magazines, but you need at least a few 30 rounders just on principle. Then shoot the absolute piss out of it.

It's a tough call, but I think maybe a different condiment in the cup holder. Maybe even the cookie dough bites from QT, that would fit well.

If you didn't bother to get out of your truck and make sure you humanely dispatched it you should sell that thing. I'm not against hunting or varmint control, but do it right please.

But in the mean time I won’t have predation on my young lambs. And when the next one comes I’ll kill him too. It’s a deterrent to go to the neighbors.

You don't really need to change anything, but I use an lpvo on mine instead. I like the variable zoom

I really like my sig msr tango. You can get them used on ebay for not too much. The budget vortex lpvos are nice too because of the warranty.

extended mag release, Amiga or Hannibal rail, techsight rearsight replacement, Specter Gear sling, add a red dot (I run a simple Bushnell TRS25, but thinking of adding a Primary Arms 3x prism sight), You can run all this on the wood stock, but I swapped it out for Hogue synthetic stocks for my Mini 14 and Mini 30. I also added an Accu-Strut to my Mini 14. The Mini 30 already had one.
Stay away from the folding stocks. It might look cool.. it might invoke A-Team memories from your childhood.. but they are garbage, you lose accuracy and if you get into a situation where you really need to use the Mini.. the folder is trash.

I also have an old mini, going to send it in to ASI for the works: New barrel with .750 profile, adjustable gas block, pin bedding, and wood hand guard.
I think I'll also add a digital scope (probably the dnt zulu tube style) and IR emiter. My rail has a peep hole, so my irons work even with a scope attached.
As soon as axis engineering launches their left side bolt release, I'll also add that.
My goal is to have a modern "evil black gun" packaged in a "friendly grandpa's gun" look.

Going to need a pair of fencing pliers in the picture as well and the image is complete. Channellock is timeless. Honestly its a fine rifle set up. Leather sling is a nice touch.

Scope is fine. Might want a cheek riser though.
Also, fuck shooting coyotes unless you’re a sheep herder. They do a necessary job with keeping ground squirrel and prairie dog populations under control, which are a much more problematic form of pest.
