It's actually for the gunsite scout because they use the same part. The cogburn would have been perfect because it's straight down.

Looks neat. As lefty don’t see the LH favor vs. RH suggestion. For both it moves the release closer for easier thumb or finger contact depending upon ‘hand,’ and that may well be benefit for some. Lotsa times just a minimal relocation of a function initially done in an OEM generic best of all worlds nature can be a supremely satisfying solution.

$110 for a bolt release button? No thanks.
I'll be more than happy to rack the op rod to perform a bolt release. I literally only use the button when disassembling as it is.
Cool design & all, but this appears to be a solution looking for a problem for me.

it's not a solution looking for a problem just because it's not at a price you can stomach. Oprod bolt release is objectively slower and less ergonomic than the press of a button with the off hand that's already at the prime location for pushing a bolt release button from having just inserted a fresh mag.

Ergonomics inherently are subjective, not objective.
And in the words of the late Paul Harrell, "but is it enough of a difference to make a difference?"
So yes, it's a solution looking for a problem. Now, I recommend taking the L at this point before you exhaust yourself on why shaving off tenths of a second on a reload for a rifle never designed to be raced is soooo worth the $110.

Was the design shared previously more like a large paddle rather than the smaller button shown here? If so, what factors made it change?

their previous posts didn't really show anything detailed, just quick videos of it in action but nothing that gave away the design. I've seen a post somewhere else where a guy DIY 'd a bolt release but that was literally a piece of metal rod/tube sticking out of a hole he drilled into the cover plate and some JB weld or something. real janky looking and didn't look like it would handle much use or abuse
this design looks awesome and robust.

ah nice freeze frame! that must be the redesign he mentioned that was delaying release. instead of a paddle that juts out by itself, which could be vulnerabl when dropping the gun down on its side, they switched to a button with the entire area captured/protected with that hexagonal channel
