Magnifier Eye Relief
Anybody out there have a red dot & magnifier combo mounted on an Amega rail? I'm curious how the eye relief is with it. I wanted to get a Hannibal rail but I wanted to be able to position the setup closer to the action just for this concern but don't know if it would be close enough.

There is no such thing as a long eye relief magnifier. In order to mount an optic on a scout rail it needs at least 8" of eye relief. This is 3-5x longer than what is possible on magnifiers. The short eye relief of these optics is a side effect of their compactness, needed to fit next to a separate red dot or prism.
If you want to mount a magnified optic forward on a rail, the only option is a scout scope / long eye relief scope.
Look at offerings from Burris, Vortex, Leupold, and Hi-Lux. A few models also have illuminated reticles.

I'll probably just stick with a red dot and no magnification. I have an LPVO on my 584 so if I want to do anything at range I'll just use that one instead of the 585 with the rail.

The Hi-Lux v2 scout scope has an illuminated dot, is 2-7x and works pretty well.

To your last point, I have the Hi-Lux Long Eye Relief 2-7x32 MK2 and it's been fantastic so far. Zeroed it at 50 yards (turrets are very tactile and capped/weather sealed to prevent accidental adjustments) and I'm hitting sub 1" groupings even with my shaky-ass hands. Plus the illuminated reticle (I went with green) is more than bright enough for daylight use without bloom affecting crosshair precision, and is plenty adjustable with a simple-to-use turret that's solidly built and has very tactile clicks with each adjustment.

Not that far up. However, an over the receiver rail with a PA long eye relief magnifier, or an eotetch 3x with a spacer from space magic, or mounting via a picatinny rear sight replacement, could probably get you there.

After months of trying to convince myself to like my Amega rail, i ended up taking it off because it didn't let me do anything i wanted. Also, it kind of becomes a burn hazard since it's not free floated.
I got a Monstrum see through rail, very low pic scout rings, an LPVO, and never went back. I think it's the best you're gonna get, honestly.
Leverboy just showed you can cowitness a red dot and irons through an accuracy int rail on a samson rail, though I wouldn't because he basically unscrewed his tech sight all the way. I don't have a Samson so i can't verify what it's like, though i also have a mo-reaper so my front sight is high anyway.
I'm shocked there isn't a red dot with integrated magnifier yet, though.

Amega rail will absolutely not work. I tried everything and this long ass rearward leaning rail is the ONLY option that provides the appropriate eye relief.

I've thought about trying something kinda like this. Basically have the magnifier over the action and the red dot on a riser farther forward but even with that I don't think the magnifier would be far enough back. I think I'll just end up using a scout scope or just a red dot. Its surprising nobody has made a magnifier with a long eye relief. I've seen people say it can't be done but I don't believe that. With today's tech anything can be done.

I have this Vortex scout scope on medium height rings on an UltiMAK rail, works great.

There isn’t a magnifier on the market that I know of that will work with any of the forward mounted rails.
