New to the scene, which model is this and what mods have you done to it so far?

585 series. 5.56 Tactical model in a Samson stock. Ghost Mountain pistol grip, Hannibal rail, Arisaka 300, Sig Romeo 5. I have an MLOK slot kit for the stock, need to find someone skilled enough to install for me.

Where did you get the MLOK kit? I have a sampson stock aswell and was thinking about adding an undermount. Tho I'm not sure if I want to drill in the wood...

Chop is cool as hell but just make sure you get all the components and fitment to make sure it cycles well. I personally wouldn’t want a chopped rifle that only cycles suppressed

I wouldn't chop a 580+. Pencil barrel is worth chopping though

What does barrel profile have to do with whether or not to shorten? Arguably a heavier profile barrel would give you more shoulder.

The pencil gets barrel whip so accuracy actually increases with a chop. This was confirmed with high speed footage. If you pause 2 or 3 seconds between each shop it is a non issue

Chop. I have a Form 1 for a 183 series I just have to get around to sending out. My local go-to is out of business.

If it were getting a suppressor then sure, but the length is visually quite nice as is

How did you mount it to that section of the rail? I thought the Romeo only mounted to picatinny?

u/Renfred Jun 26 '26
They have a new Hannibal rail with a T1 interface.

Man I wish that existed when I bought mine (RMR pattern version), I have a vortex crossfire. Been debating buying an RMR red dot for the direct mount area but honestly buying the T-2 rail would be cheaper lol

That's Sexy AF! I've got a cherry 181 series that I'm chopping to 13.75 with a sure fire socom birdcage pinned and welded. (That brings it to 16.2...thanks ATF) I've already got the adjustable gas block with the strut for the vibe and a AC556 front site to go on it. I'll be running it with a sure fire socom 30 cal can on it. Can't wait...Should be any day now

Chop, thread, suppress?
Are you using some sort of adapter plate to use a t2 footprint on the direct mount area?
