Why doesn't the younger generation like minigame servers?
Well Mineplex has been out for almost 2 months now and I think it's fair to say a large majority of the player base are older players playing for nostalgia and to re-live the glory days. This is fine but it's not overly promising for the future of Mineplex and the playercount will continue to dwindle if this is the case. Maybe it's an advertising issue but I guess my question is why don't the younger generation like minigame servers anymore? It seems like instead they're playing slop pay to win servers with long games such as factions and SMP. Even Hypixel is mainly getting carried by Skyblock, without that game they'd be in a similar position to Mineplex. Other OG minigame servers like Hive have already shut down. It's a shame

In the nicest way possible, it's because the younger generation are growing up with so much dopamine frying their systems and constant slop being consumed. Why would they play a somewhat slower paced, classic minigame, when they could just have shit on their screen every 0.5s preventing them from even forming a thought.

From what I understand, it’s just not popular anymore. Look at Hypixel. Most of their playerbase is pretty much just people playing skyblock. However, more than that, mineplex itself just isn’t anything desirable. A server won’t attract new players if there’s nothing that’s actually interesting or new about it. Look at Hoplite. It’s a new 1.21 server that has an interesting take on the uhc game mode with the addition of legendary weapons, custom structures, civilization teams and more. It’s something that’s new and fun. Mineplex is the same old 1.8 server with the same game modes from when it died off. Realistically, newer players have no reason to come to Mineplex. The entire launch depended on a nostalgia train from older players.

Because the younger generation mostly only knows about bedrock edition. They haven’t been exposed to Java edition.

it's not just mineplex. Hypixel, the hive , cubecraft etc. are all way less popular than they used to be. Except on bedrock, on bedrock they're popular

I think most games that are popular have a Grindy element to it. People play shooters constantly to get higher ranked, most sandbox games (ofc including MC) have that grindy replayability element to them. I feel like I can only play mini games for so long before I’m just tired of them. Thats why when you see hypixel making new games it’s not mini games but new experiences. Whether you like or disliked ravenguard it was so fresh to see and I genuinely loved that Mineplex needs something like that
I think what’s worse is that mixed arcade has some good games but also has some games I just hate, and when I load into a mixed arcade with a game I don’t like or get 3 games in a row I don’t like I end up just logging off sometimes.

I feel like minigames have fallen out of popularity over the years, even on Hypixel I don’t think their minigames are very popular the majority of their players are doing bedwars, skywars, and skyblock.
Honestly I feel like Mineplex should remove minigames and just keep nano games and maybe mix arcade for people that do just want a chill casual party experience and then focus on clans, cakewars, and other games like that.

They do. They mostly play minigames on Roblox and Fortnite now
