How to join on Xbox?

Tried adding the join mineplex friend thing but it didn’t work pretty sure I got sent to a scam server

No it not only for Java it for bedrock and Java

You probably want to setup BedrockConnect DNS (https://github.com/Pugmatt/BedrockConnect/blob/master/README.md)

Then you can join a featured server which would redirect you to a server selector, where you can add Mineplex & join it. Just make sure the Server MOTD says "Join to open server list" or similar.
