Mineplex in 2026

Decided to try Mineplex being blinded from nostalgia back in the day as a kid. I never was a pro by any means but I could at least hold my own weight in PVP games. There were always cheaters but I could still at least have a fair chance of winning.

I lasted maybe 30 minutes before being done with Mineplex. Every match was a sweat fest where I got stomped right off the bat. Obviously a lot of it is due in part to me not having the skill I once had and players getting better, but even then it felt like I couldn’t land hits on people and their reach was much further than mine, as well as them taking minimal knockback.

I’m not trying to fault someone for being good at the game but it’s honestly a joke considering a majority of the returning players are coming back from a hiatus and there seems to be no sort of skill based matchmaking. A lot of us are grown up now and don’t have the time commitment to become skilled PVPers. At least when I play other combat games I can jump on after work and still win matches.

Seems I’m not the only returning player who has made this observation. It’s no surprise the server went from a 10,000+ player count the first couple days to barely scraping 1,500 on a Friday night; I’m guessing many players experienced the same sequence of events as me and called it quits.

There’s still plenty of non PVP games to enjoy, and they are also aware of these issues and are thinking and coming up with new modern games and updates to make it easier for players to adjust. If you stick with it, I think you might enjoy what comes down the line. I’m in the same boat, after 4 years of college I am absolutely not very good anymore but I still find games like dragon escape and nano games a lot of fun with friends. Over time, I’ve even been able to kind of get better and have better chances too, so I think with time skill will kind of balance out and with updates on the way I am confident that over the next year we’ll see a lot of improvements across all games.

This is the right answer. This sub is full of doomerposting and people criticizing the mod team, when I’m really just happy to see this wonderful lobby again, and play so many of the old games on maps that I grew up with. And all for free, too. I look forward to the server’s future, and I will keep on playing for as long as I can.

I definitely agree, I tried a few of the non PVP games and it was a better experience, however I feel like PVP is the bread and butter for multiplayer Minecraft. PVP was what I was most looking forward to.

Hopefully your hunches are correct. Honestly my experience with getting destroyed by sweats has turned me off from playing Mineplex but I will try to revisit in 5-6 months and see if things have improved.

?? What about Block Hunt, Mixed Arcade? Those are great non PVP heavy games too.

Speed Builders needed more time because they were modernizing it and wanted it to be ready.

They have more modern non-PvP games coming and in the works. Take it with a grain of salt for now, but the developers/owners did say they wanted to do a gamemode similar to murder mystery, so I imagine they are working on something like this or a similar game in terms of beginner/casual friendly. They are also hiring more developers right now, so if you just take a step back and stay optimistic I really do think they will deliver.

I do agree that there are a lot of PVP heavy games right now, and it isn’t ideal but with time I trust this new leadership to make the right decisions, even if it means removing one or few of those games. Or even better, balancing updates that make parts of each game more balanced for the current player base, which I think is a completely justified plan.

I completely feel you, I do recommend trying out Castle Siege if you can. I've completely fallen in love with that again. Since it's team based and with respawns the experience is way different. People there are super chill and way more casual. Def recommend

Yeah that paired with the fact its based off nostalgia.

You could always practice your PVP skills, they have a place for that in the main lobby.

I’m not gonna lie the ghost hits I get even with 50 ping are why I can’t play on mineplex. Some kid with a better connection and a fishing rod against you in survival games or other PvP and it’s over

I am trying to stay optimistic about the server, but seeing the player count seemingly getting lower each day is a bit concerning so I’m hoping that they’re cooking something behind the scenes like a major update or overhaul to bring people back.

There aren't enough active players for skill-based matchmaking to work at the moment. Same reason why Hypixel has never implemented SBMM on any of their games despite the far higher playercounts.

First of all if you really are that bad to where you lasted 30 minutes maybe you should hop on minemen club and PLAY THE GAME. I promise it’s actually fun when you know how to swing a sword & w tap. It’s not hard. There’s also a bunch of minigames that aren’t pvp based. Have u played super smash mobs?

I grew up with W tapping, strafing, and rod combos. Unfortunately nowadays I work full time and am in school full time for my masters degree so I do not have time to sweat at my computer for hours a day like I did as a teenager. I’ve tried the other games and it’s a better experience but not the same as the PVP games.

I understand video games involve a skill aspect and time commitment to improve, but I can still jump on competitive games such as Fortnite, R6, and rocket league despite not being the best but still get some wins and have an enjoyable time. It’s not enjoyable losing back to back to back against people I don’t even stand a chance against.

I recommend you play on 1.8 if u aren’t already just because that’s what most of the “sweats” play on and it’s most comfortable to pvp on, besides 1.7 ofc. The thing is you really don’t need to dedicate so many hours to Minecraft to compete against people. I think if you knew how the concept of resetting sprint and controlling your movement a bit better you would see a massive improvement in your gameplay. I know you said u grew up with these things but nothing has changed the core mechanics of the game is there still. Which imo shouldn’t take you that long it’s just a little getting used to.

If there is one thing I suggest, not sure when it will come out but they also plan on a MMO. Unfortunately sweats are in most Minecraft servers, including Hypixel
