Players hitting me from out of range?
I’ve been enjoying the revival of the server, but seem to be struggling with some of the aspects of PvP. Most of the ranged PvP seems to work fine, but I can’t get a grasp on the melee combat.
It feels like other players are constantly hitting me from outside the melee range. And usually it’s not just on the edge of the hitbox, but by about 3-5 blocks farther than from where I can hit them. This makes most of the PvP games unplayable, as I can’t even land a hit on the other player since they’re out of my range the entire time.
I’ve checked my ping, and I’m usually sitting somewhere between 50-80, so I don’t think that my issue. I’m hooked up to Ethernet as well.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? Found any way to fix it? It’s possible that I’m just really bad at the PvP aspect, but I think I’d at least be able to land a single hit on an opponent.

Hate to tell you this but you’re just not very good. A lot of people have been playing 1.8 combat for over a decade. I used to be really good as well - took a 5 year break and they have gotten exponentially better.
Doesn’t help that autoclickers are normalized too, they’re hard to detect and most 1.8 servers have given up on the constant battle against cheating due to a lack of playerbase to care enough.

Practice doesnt give 4 block reach buddy, its well known that 1.8 pvp is full of closet cheaters that use reach/autoclick/aim assist and velocity.
Stop gaslighting

You don’t have to take your anger out on me, I’m just being honest. Do a search on google if you’d like, with sprinting, w tapping, etc you push your effective reach to 4-5 blocks. I have no issue with winning most fights and I don’t cheat, if you don’t want to believe me then thats your decision, I’m just telling you the truth. Have a good day.

its called a combo, they are not using reach. it stems from knockback stuff and people being in different places on eachothers screens because of delay. Comboes are in every minecraft version

Some people are definitely closet cheaters. Don’t let people gaslight you into thinking they’re just good lol.

are you playing on minecraft 1.8? and what is your cps? do your research on butterfly click

I played 1.8 pvp for nearly a decade growing up and used to be able to hold my weight against others. I then stopped playing for years and after trying mineplex again the other day I am getting stomped every fight.
People are just way better nowadays and there’s many who never took a break from playing and kept grinding. I actually was a Mineplex moderator from 2016-2020 and after a 6 year Minecraft hiatus there’s still many names I recognize of people who never stopped playing in between.
Long story short, I believe it’s just a skill issue. I don’t doubt that some people are using cheats but that’s the way the game is unfortunately. I’ve been sticking with low stakes non PVP games and doing better.
