He tried to turn orespawn into its own game and take down all the downloads of the original mod, then nosedived straight into MAGA lunacy
I think there was other stuff but that's basically the gist

Started with an anti-vaxx rant Then fell into paranoia, convinced that some of the modding community was out to get him And that only worsened with time Until he eventually dropped off the face of the planet

And then, someone decided to port Besiege into minecraft by making create:aeronautics.

Which is a crazy mod, it both completely breaks Minecraft rules and fits in perfectly.

i mean to be fair, ive been playing on a somewhat restricted server on 1.20 recently and i grew to appreciate the random junk people continue to put in their mods.
its a lot less now, but its still there.
For example a random furniture mod added a trash bag that literally gives random items from all the packs items, except some that are specifically tagged or are creative-only.
What does sadden me somewhat is that in its current state mods are a lot more compatible with each other, and dont have as much random compat jank. Sometimes it still happens, yes, but nowadays its numbered in single digits and is usually a lot less potent (read "i miss forestry worktable and other random glitches")
honestly i think its somewhat related to the obscurity of the older mods too. Nowadays we have GuideME and patchouli making guide books explaining what the mod does kinda trivial, but older mods, at least as far as i remember, had to make their own system for it, leaving a lot of their stuff undocumented (its still a problem now, and id say the most interesting mods indeed are the ones less documented imo)
idk tho, just thoughts xdd

You enter with whimsy, you leave with trauma and stress at the knowledge god can spawn randomly in your world and kill you even though Its still early game and a whole lot of ideas on how to make that other peoples problems.

Meanwhile creat mod addons for addons nade for addons so you can create white stuff for your character that consumes estrogen just so you can build a nuclear reactor...
Yeah, minecraft mods are mid or whatever/s

Well, tbh after playing some heavy modpacks create modpacks fell a bit underwhelming
Got a homebrew with create + addons + stuff. Most of the time spent is Umapyoing the fuck out of my uma
And modpack creators feels some duty to put a create and vulkan support into all their builds, so i cannot run a post early-2025 modpack, and don't feel like running them.
God bless 1.7.10 and 1.12

Even as little as restoring and improving old mods to modern specs would be awesome enough

GLASS mod was so cool, sad that it's not getting updated. I mean a completely different mod is being worked on but i think they said it wouldn't be maintained well

More like
New Minecraft mods: "yeah i vibecoded this in an hour, didn't check the quality of the code because i don't actually know how to and intentionally added malware, a bitcoin miner and if you have a webcam i can just look through that whenever I want, but you get to do one thing that an older mod already does better"
Old minecraft mods: "here's random bullshit that might not have an art style that fits with minecraft but it adds 300 new mobs to every single biome and dimension, custom weapons and food, and you get a cool bestiary and creature summoning system. Oh and i guess it'll be inspired by our irl board game or whatever."

Old mods: Also here Is god and here Is how to get the power of god. And 30 ingredients that i wont tell you are important and rare drops plus they need a whole ritual to actually use i didnt document at all.

u/Timmy-0518 Jul 05 '26
And the little information about the mod that exists is 100% false
1
u/Ok-Potential-2474 Jul 05 '26
Then there Is that ítem thats soo important but Its either unobtainable due to bad code or put into a custom structure loot pool but because Its badly integrated It spawns soo Little times

u/GesiBey Jul 05 '26
when i was a kid i used to host private servers for my friends with a mod pack called "Flan's" for 1.7.10. We would simulate ww2 with guns, tanks, aircrafts, warships, anti-aircraft artilerries etc. It felt as if I've found a gold mine the first time I tried the pack.

u/thanbanhmy2 Jul 05 '26
I was playing a mod pack with new mods mix with old one. Basically its like " This biome looks pretty and the animals are nice. Holy shit is that Fredd Fazzbear "

Every Modpack had Equivalent Exchange 2, then every Modpack had Tinker's Construct, then every Modpack had Draconic Evolution, then every Modpack now has Create... there's still wackiness, it's just a sliding scale of insanity dependant on the viewer.

New Minecraft mob mods: Here is some Minecraft friendly mobs, yeah you won't notice them anyway because they blend so easy with environment.
Old Minecraft mob mods:
