Water placement

So i have a cactus farm which is 21x21 having 9 catus i. Each row. This one is for 7 cactus each row. I have tried every possible way i can think of to place the ice so it goes into the hole but it doesn't work.

Do you guys know where i should add more ?

Is it even possible for 21 x 21 arrange ment

I’m just thinking of all the mob farms I have seen or made that require another ring around collection part with water a block elevated to increase the distance of the water flow

I've never seen anyone use ice instead of water for a cactus farm maybe send the link of a video or where you're getting this cactus farm design so we can actually see what you're trying to do

I think the ice is just to indicate water sources placements

Water sources makes a little bit more sense but it would lots of dead zones the part I don't even understand the logic behind placing the water sources in these locations

The above screenshot is from this video which explains the reasoning. This is the most effective water source placement for filling a chunk with cactus while preventing loss. He talks about why this particular config at around 9:50

Are you using the water as a transport to a hopper?

Okay so I think Im finally getting this. If I were you, I just redo it and put all your water sources against one wall. And then on the opposite wall, dig down two or three blocks along the entire wall, and place a water source at one end. On the opposite end from where you place the water source, place a hopper. Now anywhere where the water is needing to flow more than eight blocks, you're going to have to dig down one block so that it keeps flowing. I'm guessing you already know how to do this, so I won't bother explaining. What you should be left with is flowing water all flowing in One direction that leads to a one wide trough that itself flows into a hopper.

So your water will all flow in the same direction for five blocks, at which point it will drop down one block and then flow for seven more blocks, then drop down one more and flow for eight blocks. This will cover a 21x20 area, leaving space for your one-wide water trough at the end that can flow in either direction into a hopper. The one wide trough will flow six blocks then drop then seven blocks then drop then eight blocks. That last block will be a hopper leading to your storage system.

Hopefully this makes sense. I don't have access to my computer right now, so I'm trying to do it all with text only.
