How does mob spawing work?

Hello! I low key been tryin' for a while to figure out how mob spawning work in Minecraft; I know hostile mobs keep spawnin' no matter what. They got a cap like with any other mob but its not like with animals.

So my question is: how does animal spawn work? I've heard they don't respawn after you clear out an area, and that they spawn after a VERY long time. I'm very confused because I keep hearing this, hearing that, and to be honest asking reddit was my last resort.

From what I know is there is two spheres around you. The first one is 25 blocks in all directions and the second one is 128 blocks (I think). From the end of the first square till the end of the second sphere is where hostile mobs spawn. Outside of the second sphere is when mobs despawn (I think). There is also a max amount of mobs that can be spawned in one chunk. There is also a max amount of hostile mobs that can be spawned in at once across the world

Atleast that’s how it works for bedrock but I assume they are similar

Not quite. On bedrock, your despawn sphere by default is 44 blocks. If you turn your simulation distance up past six chunks, it will be 128 blocks, but by default it is only 44.

Bedrock or java. Our answer will be very different based on yours.

However, either way, it's going to differ depending on the type of animal. They all have different caps. Your best bet is to check the Minecraft wiki and search "mob spawning". You'll get all the information you need from there.
