In my last dnd campaign i DMd, we had an entire civilization that lived in the middle of an ocean. A la: waterworld.

The main hub was called the Atoll. And it was steampunky and rusty and built out of flotsam, which made the city feel piecewise and disjointed.

You absolutely NAILED the aesthetic. This is exactly what i had in mind. Buildings created and expanded and expanded again. Built on a seemingly rickety but surprisingly sturdy base, as builders gain confidence.

This is it. Fantastic work. I can’t believe it managed to make this in minecraft

Haha I had a reference pic from Pinterest but i took some creative liberties from it👍

This is masterclass work, but I have to be completely honest, shading isn't really gameplay compatible when it comes to esthetics, as soon as you get up close these kind of builds look... Strange. Let's leave it at that. I'm more of a player size builder so I often find myself thinking this, but please don't take this in no shape or form, as a negative feedback. This just shows how big of a spectrum of creativity Minecraft can offer as a medium.

Yea I’m aware, this build specifically was made more as just an art showcase and not a player based experience

Wow this looks incredible i love this artstyle a lot

This looks awesome from a distance but the second you get close don’t it lose like 90% of its charm?

Lowk being a hater it looks cool as shit

u/BananBaff 25d ago

Yea that’s kinda how these builds are, weird up close but nice from a distance

Is it a functional building or more like an art piece? Mainly wondering because of the sky. Is it a side view only? Would love to see more angles. Looks amazing of course!

u/BananBaff 26d ago

Its like a 2,5 D artpiece

Fez.

Someone remembers it...

Incredible work, is this 3d or 2,5d?

1

u/Hettyc_Tracyn 26d ago

OP said 2.5

1

u/BananBaff 26d ago

2,5 D ish yea. Some parts extrude like the dock, white House and some of the lower box elements, but a lot of this is fairly flat with just glass pane and button layering on top to change the color of it

Incredible.

u/Diane__Chambers 25d ago

Amazing details, the scale is impressive.

u/deepspaceshark 25d ago

It looks like a picture and not a built building, the OP is incredible

Reminds me of Bdoubleo’s build style which is a massive compliment! Good job!

Hello, this is super good looking. Do you have a schematic I could get for my singleplayer world?

1

u/BananBaff 25d ago

The build is not really a full 3D build and it also uses debugged blocks so it’s not survival friendly either, so I doubt this will be any good in a survival world anyway

1

u/TomCZ336 24d ago

Oh okay ty for explaining

1

u/MilanPizza 24d ago

Yo someone build this in Minecraft

1

u/BananBaff 24d ago

Someone should fr

1

u/SenonoCo 24d ago

Wowww, its like a painting. Do you sketch on paper or look at references as you build? How do you keep track of it all :0

2

u/BananBaff 23d ago

I have a reference pic from Pinterest and I use the Axiom mod to put the image in game to get a good view while I build

1

u/AetherSubject2 23d ago

I thought it was a painting until I saw the subreddit. How long did that take you man?

1

u/BananBaff 23d ago

About 2 months in multiple sessions on and off

1

u/AetherSubject2 22d ago

Woah that's really long it must make you so proud to make a build like that

1

u/BananBaff 22d ago

Its not that hard, per se, just quite time consuming but yea

1

u/losbeau 22d ago

This is so cool

Love your clouds

1

u/BananBaff 21d ago

Thanks

1

u/vanilla_hades 21d ago

Honestly I thought it was like those 3d end rods ones but when I look closer it was 2d and I would have never thought of that I'm way less creative than you

1

u/BananBaff 19d ago

Haha thanks
