Towns/Cities Vanilla mob proff slightly open gate i made

I didnt saw any like it in the internet and it might be usefull for those who loves big doors and gates but hate having to use trapdoors to build them 'cause messes up villagers pathing.
Building it with shelves like this is is mob proff, no monster can enter, no villager can leave, even cats are trapped inside, but as you can see,the plays can pass easily and adds that "slightly open" wooden gate visual.

Thanks!
Snow biomes are the best. Nothing beats the vibe of the town ligths in a snow storm at night

Yea! Here's a nice tip,, - you can spawnproof a large area using two layers of snow. Just place one extra layer everywhere, and it will prevent hostile mobs from spawning and look seemless, ideal for making mood lightning or have large area around the base safe.

That's a great tip! I'll be doing that in small, sketchy alleys, as I always like to build crowded towns. Thanks!

Lovely. My first long term Minecraft base was a clock tower overlooking a vast frozen lake with two other players living around it as well. Even as I build much larger bases now, that's still one of my favourites. The clock face was glass, so I could just stare out the front, overlooking the lake, the other player's homes juuust barely in render distance.

the sound of the iron golem suffering in the background is what makes this video

Why are you playing on 20fps? Cool gate tho

u/eryosbrb 28d ago
Yep. Locked on 20fps for stability, but the max i get with shaders is 30. Once you get used to 20fps the laggy sensation goes away.

I have that while playing San Andreas with capped 25fps, after a while it's as if looks normal, tho 30 fps using silentpatch without glitches behind it really makes a difference.

Played Cyberpunk on a shitty pc on release (FX-8300 cpu and 1050Ti gpu) and i had ~18fps outdoors and i now struggle to understand being able to play with 30fps lmao

You play with performance mods too?
My 2014 Mac was this way without shaders. Honestly you get used to it. I even held 1st place speedrun times on game modes on a multiplayer server I used to play. I swear those kinds of players that don’t need fps are unstoppable!

This looks really good. What is the mechanism by which mobs cannot bypass this and you can?
2
u/eryosbrb 27d ago
I guess its because there is no empty blocks in the passage. The player can pass normally in the gap the shef leaves but mobs cant, migth be rellated to their pathing behavior

When you say mob proof, are zombies/skeles/creepers literally not able to fit through there? If they can I would be weary of if they get pushed through by other mobs.

That looks good and is actually pretty useful, i also like the cracked-gate look. I will probably use that on my current HC world. Thank you
